3 males and 3 females!? You can't use 6 units in a battle.

i use 3 males, 1 female and Ramza. my female is the third strongest of all of them (behind my main male and ramza)

I cycle the use of my characters, so I think I have 3 males, and 3 females that I swap out interchangably as needs arise. As having more than the maximum party's worth of "mains," I have to do some side leveling. Sometimes, I utilize different characters for just that, such as my Knight that Power Breaks anything that could possibly hurt me. tongue.gif

Lately, I've been intrigued with Chocobos. They are Hella strong straight out of the chute, as opposed to the other characters which require countless hours of battling to make them any good.

So I guess I'd say my usual team is 2 guys, 1 girl, and a Chocobo.

in the begining, i usually use 2 fems, and 2 males. i dismiss 2 of the starting chars as soon as i can. usually the chemists, unless they have a really cool name.

but when chapter 2 hits, i keep the 2 fem knights that join up. so, by the end of the game i have 2 males, and 4 fems. wacko.gif

I usually have 2 and 2, just to have a male fighter, male wizard, female fighter, female wizard
just so I can appreciate the different costumes. If I were power-playing, I would go straight-up 2 male fighters, then 2 female wizards, then whomever for special characters. Did anybody know Cloud can equip female equipment (i.e ribbons, etc)? I just started leveling Cloud up, and noticed he had the extra equipment available. Maybe that cross-dressing stuff in the beginning of FFVII? Weird, man, pretty weird!

I use two of each and divide a male and female for fighting and the others for mage...stuff.

Not just for efficiency sake (Males have better PA and HP, Females have better MA and MP), but also for aesthetic reasons. I like the female ninja and geomancer over the male. Then again, I like the male samurai and thief. (Then again, thieves are ugly as sin.) Also, it's helpful if there's good compatibility, although that can be a kick in the pants. My last playthough, my female fighter and female mage had worst compatibility.

They basically make you choose to mix it up, sure females make better mages, but only males can be bards, same thing on the physical sides, 'cept with females and dancers.

I rotate characters in and out, but overall I have more females in camp than males, most battles end up 3 ladies, 2 gents.

There's no fighter in FFT, i guess you mean Squire or Knight.

In the beginning of the game, I bought 3 more females (the first time i played i bought males) and then I named them after me, and two of my closest friends. It's like we're using Sexy No Jutsu. I then kick out all my default soldiers in the beginning, so my party only has Ramza, the 3 girls, Delita, and occasionally a guy name Bob, if I had enough money (he gets replaced by Agrias later on anyways, he's a priest/chemist).

Is there a difference between getting a female or male? Why is the female cheaper than the male?

i think he meant physical offensive, and magical offensive.

fighter = knight, dragoon, monk
wizard = summoner, b.wizard, t.mage

With the lone exception of Ramza and Agrias, my teams (for story battles) are different each and every time. I don't rely on merely 5 characters that I'd like to beat the game with or whatnot, I make each and every member of my party as useful and as valuable as Ramza, himself. Granted, some of my characters die here and there, but I always compensate with either a monster (some for poaching) or I'd invite an enemy that seems useful.

As for the male/female issue, I'm too random to give you a definite answer because in every battle, I use different combinations in every battle. In some story battles, though, I'd have an all-female party and there are some battles in which I'll have an all-male party, or one character (male or female) with four monsters just for different "gimmicks" to have fun with.

In the beginning of the game I dismiss what I'm given (after stripping all their items) and I buy two males and two females. As has been mentioned, I get one of each gender for the physical classes, and one of each for the magical classes. Intermix that with some of the special characters and some monsters (Boco, usually renamed, this time to Swift, a Taiju, C Class Nymph, and a Dragon), and I'm pretty much ready for anything. I think the girls at the soldier's office cost less because they are equipped with daggers, while the men have broad-swords.

Male only. If it's no good at stabbing people in the face then what use is it to me?

magic is a wonderous thing. it can dish out damage to multiple people at a time and it even better with quick charge. all the meanwhile your knight only attacked one person, one time.

i find it hard to believe that you can complete the game using melee only male chars. esp. when your up against someone with high evade and good equipment or skills such as first strike.

and on a side note, i have female chars who are better melee-ers than my males. it all depends on how you level them, and the equipment you use. ( female only equips )

While magic is fun and pretty and has it's uses and all, I end up phasing it out almost completely (Although I do keep one fully decked out crossjobbed priest for occasions when I feel I might need one) I've played around with speed demon summoners, Holy Justice (4 Knights with Chameleon Robes and one Calculator with Holy), Invisible Dancers and time and time again I just find it simpler to steamroll the opposition with a pack of Panzermonks or Flying Ninjas or Dragoons. I've always felt slighted somehow whenever I try to level a Fem-melee-er. Perhaps I'm crazy but the damage constantly seems lower.

Agrias

Reis

TG Cid

Mustadio

And of course, Ramza.

I despise magic based teams in FFT. My teams are always physically based, and the game is pretty easy to soundly trounce. Agrias rolls as a holy knight, as does Orlandu. Reis serves as a ninja, Mustadio is my battle medic as a chemist with the engineer secondary skillset, and Ramza of course stays a squire. Pwnage, IMO> happy.gif

I tend to use Ramza, 2 males, and 2 females. That said, I usually switch it up from file to file and I'd say it's more likely for me to increase the number of females than males (what can I say, I really like using chantage and having my characters pop back up after dying).

Maybe you misunderstood me, I never said 'use' I said 'have'. In terms of using, I always try a different number of males and females

Posted by: GreyWolf94 14th September 2008 02:54
I use all males because when you have all the items and select optimise, it always puts a bag on the females. I find that quite annoying.

By the way, that was my first post. biggrin.gif

I personally like to use the chicas, mostly because of the dancer ability. I usually master dancer and mediator (so I can shoot da guns and dance da dance), then move on to calculator when it becomes available. I use three women and one of the special characters you run into during the game. (I have found that I really like the Holy Knight skillset, and that Cloud kinda sux). But I will have to agree, the stupid bag thing sux (thats y i dont buy them... thumbup.gif )

P.S. this isn't my first post... but it is the first one I've done in a while... go me. flag-olly.gif

By the end of the game, I've always ditched my generic characters for the special ones. I use different characters in each battle, but I try to have 2 females and 2 males in addition to Ramza.

Posted by: RinoaRaine 24th September 2008 22:05
Well, i usually use the special characters like Agrias, mustadio, malak, Rafa and orlandau(not at the same time obviously) in one game i got Cloud and the others and i really like using reis in that game.

Ramza (Eric) - Knight - Male thumbup.gif

Rebecca - White Mage - Female wub.gif

Douglas - Black Mage - Male tongue.gif

Mustadio - Thief - Male dry.gif (<- I like him as a thief better)

Keeton - Bard - Male - blush.gif (<- I sometimes think I'm the only one in the world that likes Bards)

Total = 3 males - 1 female

Posted by: Starsoul-klr 13th October 2008 07:51
I like to use a mix of them. I usually don't limit my teams on gender: unless Steal Heart pops up for the next battle... or I'm liking a song or dance.

Posted by: Anexu 23rd October 2015 23:00
At the beginning of the game I make three generics - two males, who will be Knights/Lancers (and ultimately be replaced by Orlandu), and one female who will be my Thief and later Ninja.

A ninja with Chantage is the ultimate tank. Enemies will flock to her, wasting turn after turn knocking down someone who will (speedily) just get right back up. It's outrageous.

Posted by: BlackCobra 11th August 2016 07:18
For me it depends on the job. For me I prefer female mages (Wizards,Priests,etc,they usually have more MP for some reason) and female archers have higher accuracy than the males. For males I use Lancers,knights,Samurai (usually anyone who can equip heavy equipment). Thieves,ninjas,squires and geomancers I use both males and females.

Posted by: Eagle Caller 4th December 2017 08:06
2 and 2. Five generic females with Chantage, Ribbon, Maintenance, and Excalibur can really make battles unloseable if that's a word. Two females and three of any other character is more than enough imo. My best party would be the two generic females Katherine and Frannie then the specials of Meliadoul, Agrias, and Reis. I dismiss Rafa and Malak to make room for others.
