Anyone tried this? I just downloaded it on my phone and I must say it's a huge dose of nostalgia. I had never heard of it and initially thought it was a fan made game. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion or if you'd like to share your experience with it.

I just started it last night and I can't put it down. It's got a decent equip and power up system, but the old school graphics are what really take the cake for me. Nothing beats some of the newer FF protagonists in classic form!

I watched a friend at work play it for a while a few weeks back, and it looks pretty fun. I have it installed, and have had from day one, but I haven't even tried to play it. I keep getting lots of push notifications (and emails from the game's PR team) about all the new content going in, and it just makes me realize I don't have the time or patience to keep up with a mobile game that changes that often. smile.gif

I played it for a few days and then dropped it forever. The time-limited gameplay is okay. You can get around that by only playing it once or twice a day, it's no big deal. However, once you exhausted the Mythril sources available in the early-game, you have to grind to make other missions available or rely on special events every two or three weeks.

No thanks.

For the uninitiated, Mythril is one form of currency in Record Keeper, and it's what you spend for most of the decent equipment. After awhile, grinding for Mythril is almost impossible, and you have to do daily grinds to even get a few pieces of Mythril. Eff that. Deleted the game from my phone.

That's the same sort of setup as Heavenstrike Rivals, a mobile title produced by Square Enix that released a couple weeks before Record Keeper. I downloaded Record Keeper but never really played it because I was still playing Heavenstrike. But I will say that casual playing over a long period is probably the most satisfying way to play that game: playing any special events that come up or a little when you're bored from time to time, after the initial "story" mode. Since I've missed so much time on Record Keeper - and therefore so many unit-giving special events - I feel less inclined to start.

The global version of Record Keeper is shutting down in September.

I am a bit sad to hear the news, because I did play Record Keeper for a bit and enjoyed it. I remember working hard over a few days to max out Penelo as my healer and having a blast doing that. It's why I made Penelo a White Mage/Monk in my current playthrough of FFXII:TZA.

But I eventually dropped Record Keeper because I don't have the time/inclination to keep up with multiple gacha games, and Brave Exvius with its superior story-telling won out for me.

Thanks for the memories, Record Keeper. I hope everyone who plays it reaches a satisfactory conclusion.
