What is 1.3?
FFT 1.3 is a FFT mod (both available on the PSX and PSP) which rebalances the game, increases difficulty, includes MANY completely new randoms, a 1v1 Vormav battle at the end of the game (right before Hashmalum) and many other things. For those interested, since it wasn't clear in the original post, Final Fantasy Tactics 1.3 is a fan-made modifications which attempts to (at the core) do two things. Number one is to balance the various aspects of the game - skills, monsters, weapons. Number two, also partly a by-product of One, is to increase the general difficulty of the game. In addition, various battles have been added into the game, both on the World Map and the Deep Dungeon.

This tournament involves several human competitors picking a team of four combatants - monster or human - kitting them out with whatever skills and gear you want (within reason), and letting the teams duke it out, controlled by the AI in 1.3. An interesting concept, no? In my opinion it needs more beards or Lady Gaga, but that's neither here nor there. I may have to check out 1.3, but I doubt I'll pay attention to this tournament.

No, but you may be interested in FFT:Complete which is the PSX version with WotL's text... it also aims to translate things such as the novel books, but up to now we only have one and a half books translated though, since they were NEVER translated to start with.
IIRC there is a merged version of 1.3 and Complete roaming around.
