So it seems that, in all my recent activity at these fora, I've uncovered the first "?" rank in this list, which turns out to be Elemental Fiend at 3300 posts.

Heh, irony: I voted against the fiend battle theme of FFIV in the first round.

I think I went over 3300 before this contest began anyway, but this music contest has definitely gotten me to post a lot more than I otherwise would.

Congrats dude. With my inactivity, I guess I'll never get there. Lol.

I keep on forgetting to post. This contest should've been a way to pad my stats (not that this is a game to me... blush.gif ).

Ah the rankings, they've always been somewhat of a mystery to me. It kinda reminds me of when I first joined this site because I believe was speculating with Twilight Paladin as to what they might be. We were both very very active back in those days, to the point where I believe I was making about 3.1 posts per day, which very quickly racked up into little over 300 posts in just a few months. We thought we'd be able to keep the pace and outpost some of the longer term members of the site since the highest totals from nonstaff were just scarcely pushing upwards of 1,000 from members like Master Zed, Djibriel, Dark Paladin and I think even yourself GMH. I know my own have always been relatively lengthy in comparison to others in the same topics too so it's not like I was rushing to get up there.

Twilight probably could've done it himself, since I know he has somewhere around 2,000-3,000 on various other sites, including Eyes on Final Fantasy but like Blitzsage I very much doubt I have it in me anymore myself. I just don't think I have much more I can say on the site's primary subject matter and had very little to begin with on more generalized topics. Elsewhere I post even less as this is more or less my favorite online forum especially now that HTE II is gone for good, if not only for the sake of the orderly cleanliness and relatively comprehensible threads. I vaguely recall there was a time when R51 was commenting on how I had something to say about everything and now I'm not even posting even 1/10th of what I used to. It's vaguely disappointing to know I'll never get to taste this glory as it does seem like a fun thing to do at least once. It's only natural since even though as Blitzsage said, it's not meant to be a contest per se, there's at least some sort of reason we bother having these ranks afterall and yet at least one more for hiding some of them.

One of the things I like about competition is that it actually gives us a sort of communal activity we can do together, allowing us to socialize over a common experience we're all having. More skillful ones like online games even allow us to match wits in a more or less unbiased way, bringing a level of respect and even comradery in co-oporative games. To make a long story short, activities raise activity, which is just about why the only socializing sites I really like more than CoN just so happen to be online games, since I can interact with people a lot more on them on a more regular basis. A large portion of the time I've spent away happened to be at Hunted to Extinction II (now defucnt) and The Battle for Wesnoth for these reasons. I now wonder just how many posts I could've made in those years of downtime.

Speaking of which even though I know several never to be named members of the staff I shall not name hate them, I kinda miss the trivia/quiz topics for this sorta reason. The Mario one allowed me to show off a level of interest that I simply couldn't express otherwise. (I mean sure, virtually everybody loves Mario but really just how much and if it's really super deep, just how could they go about showing it?) I'd say more but guess this is the point where I should stop talking since I'm starting to veer off the main topic now...

For what it's worth, we don't hate those topics. We don't think that forum threads are the best way to do them, really, because they like so many things tend to end up as strings of garbage posts that take away from the cleanliness that you and others point out as an example of why the site has survived.

Anyway, on topic, thanks for pointing it out, GMH, I've unmasked that rank in the help file.

Well, Tonepoet, perhaps one day I'll get around to making a thread about Kiddy Grade. Though it's likely that you and I would be the only ones posting there...

That said, as I've mentioned before, I've tried lightly to drum up more activity on these fora. However, obviously, the staff have done a much more fruitful (and fun) job of it--and the FF Music CoNtest is the most brightly-shining example.

Quick note about postcounts: I know how much the moderation team here dislikes postcount++, and I agree with their sentiment. I just found it interesting that, in its custom pmwiki-based forum software, the TV Tropes forum actually has no postcount stat at all. (Disclaimer: This is NOT a suggestion.)

I've really enjoyed this music contest and I'm actually hoping that there are similar contests in the future. I might even try to import this idea to the TV Tropes forum, though they don't have a native polling system so it'll be a bit harder.

That said, I generally enjoy the contests here, at least the ones I've participated in. (I don't do things like fantasy football since I don't know football.) If only laszlow could at least get around to unlocking the Rare Entries thread, or someone else with the time would pick up the mantle...

In the five and a half years since I posted here, I think I've uncovered three more -- and covered two of them back up because I don't remember what they are.

Meanwhile I've since stopped posting in the TVT forums (out of lack of interest, in case you're curious), and been posting at a couple spinoff forums -- both of which also lack postcount unless you dig deep enough.

Anyway...currently at 4,687, as Omega Weapon.

Also that thread about Kiddy Grade...yeah I'll get around to it sometime.

I just noticed today talking about titles that my title changed.I rarely post and pay attention because unless i do a review i find most ff games are talked to death about.
Only games i might talk about if i played them, but i dont know enough about ff tactics and ffx-2
