There is a man in the Shinra Building who gives me a materia if I give him the right answer. My question is: What materia do I get ? I want to proceed in the game, but I want to know If I can skip it and get it later on, or if the only chance to get it is now.

It's an Elemental (Support - Blue) materia.

You can get more later on if you want to pass.  Mastering materia yields endless supplies of them anyway.

I believe he's talking about the library puzzle on the 62nd floor of the building, where Mayor Domino makes you solve the password before he will give you his Keycard for the 63rd, 64th, and 65th floors.

If he's not, well... *Shrug*

at that point, it can be surprisingly useful. afetr all, link it to bolt in a strong attacking character, and the robotic enemies in and around midgar are a little easier to beat...

I don't know exactly where the answer is (can't remember), but there is no reason to look on the net or remember the answer from last time you played, since it changes all the time.

The password does indeed change every time. For one, you can ask the guy outside the door for hints, if you have the gil. In order to find the password, you have to first see what the name of the library is (what it's supposed to contain), and then look for the record along the shelves which doesn't fit. Then on that phony record, look at the number on the top. The number corresponds to that letter in the record. (If it says "8: Shinra Space Launches" then it would be P, because it's the 8th letter). You must do this for each of the four libraries. I would guess that the order goes left to right, top to bottom, but if you get the 4 letters correct, it shouldnt matter as you should be able to figure out which word it is anyways.
