Do you live in Illinois? If so, come Feb 19th, you may be able to go to the Final Fantasy Symphony Concert, featuring music by the ever-popular Nobuo Uematsu. (Source:RPGamer.com)

"The two-hour program will be produced by Uematsu, and conducted by Grammy award winning Arnie Roth, who is the music director and principal conductor of the Chicagoland Pops. Scenes and scores from the games will be seen on massive screens.

Other tour locations or which scores from the games have not been confirmed at this time."

I think this is very exciting. There's a link on this page that gives details about purchasing tickets.

Well, it'll probably be high on my list if a show comes to someplace near Texas but there's no way I could make it to this one. I just don't have the money or the time. If they keep doing them I will go to one before I die though.

Well, I can walk to Illinois if you give me 5 minutes. I just don't have the motivation.

The clouds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

Blast it. My only hope is that they release a CD. Do they have a CD out?

Like most others, I am unable to go for various reasons. At least I can always pop my FF games in ye ol SNES if I want to listen to FF music. Oh and sharkerbob, they do have a CD out. It contains some boss music from various FF games.

Nope, I can't go there, Illinois is too far away. However, if they ever come down here to the Big Apple, I'd be the first one to buy tickets.

I won't know if I can go until I find out what my situation will be regarding a move into my own condo. By the time I know the show will probably be sold out. They should release a DVD of one of these concerts, because there's obviously a lot of people who would like to go but can't. I would go and film it but security probably wouldn't let me. happy.gif

For some odd reason, I was compelled to buy the VIP tickets ($120). Well, I consider it a somewhat fair exchange, considering that I got front row, center seats and supposedely get the chance to meet Nobou Uematsu afterwards.

And yeah, I live in Chicago. It's about damned time that something good came to this city; we usually get passed over for LA and New Yawk.

So...ph33r! XD

Hm. Well, how to sum up how things went?

All I can say is this: the concert was an absolute blast--Chicagoland Pops Orchestra r0><0rx my b0><0rz. Also, for those of you who know of the Chicago White Sox announcer (Gene Honda), he was the Master of Ceremonies that night. For those of you who haven't checked on RPGamer, the order of the songs went like this (my personal rating is in the brackets):

Liberi Fatali (FFVIII) [4/5]
Zanarkand (FFX) [4/5]
Terra's Theme (FFVI) [5/5]
Theme of Love (FFIV) [2/5]
Dear Friends (FFV) [3/5]
Vamo' Alla Flamenco (FFIX) [5/5] (gotta give props to the old man on the guitar. DAMN!)
Love Grows (FFVIII) [4/5]

INTERMISSION

Areis' Theme (FFVII) [5/5]
Not Alone (FFIX) [4/5]
Ronfaure (FFXI) [3/5]
FINAL FANTASY I-III Medley [5/5]
New Melody from FINAL FANTASY VII ADVENT CHILDREN [3.5/5]
Final Fantasy [4.5/5]

After that, Nobou Uematsu, who had come out already at the beginning of the concert and after the intermission, came on at the end and spoke to the crowd (through an interpiter). From what I garner, he's a very likable guy. He also seemed to hint at the Black Mages coming to the US in the near future...to which the crowd was jubulant. Anyway, after a bit more chitchat, he left the stage, asking the crowd if they wanted an encore. I find this funny, because I was the first one in the theatre to scream for one after the end of the last song. So the conductor leaves the stage, telling the crowd to wait a minute. The choir comes back in. Everyone thinks that it's Liberi Fatali again.

We were proven wrong.

After the first few notes, everyone cheered. It was One Winged Angel. And I have to say that I think they had the song right. It was a little bit faster in tempo than normal, but that made it all the better. Afterwards, since I had paid $125 (!!), I got to go with some other lucky people to meet Nobou Uematsu himself for a few minutes and get some things signed. I did so and then left.

Overall, I'd say it was the best $125 I had spent in my lifetime. TOTALLY worth every penny. I also found it quite odd that there were a LOT of adults there...I'm talking people from the Nintendo era were there, for chrisakes!

For those that couldn't make it...I feel for you. For those that did, they know what I'm talking about. ^_~
