Just her personality and she's so rude sometimes, and... I don't know. I just have this urging to hate her. Looks like I need to go back to therapy for my inner crazed fanboy >.>

Yeah... Flea being a guy was definetely on the creepy side when I played through it. Playable character, I prefered using Lucca because she was the only one with fire magic for the tri-techs, and both of Magus' tri-techs required Lucca.
Schala is hands down my favorite girl from CT. She is kind in a way unseen by anyone else in the Zeal Kingdom, and she unconditionally helps Crono and the others. Since this topic was favortie female character, not just PC, Schala should have been in the voting options. -------------------- That was my sin. And this... this... is my punishment. |

Ayla, especially from a gameplay perspective blah blah blah, plus I always try to have her in party during plot points because her responses are so cute.. I do like Marle though, and don't care for Lucca, but that's all because I'm very superficial.
Quote (ElPanachino) Ayla is sexy and strong, but I don't think she'd make the greatest conversation. She kind of makes me think of a female version of Gau (FF6). Well Gau's one of my favorite characters, so that might have something to do with it. Also, she definately is the best-looking character. Marle's horribly annoying, and Lucca's awesome, but I do not care about Ayla AT ALL, personally.
Lucca, for sure, for sure. |

Marle is a well developed character, causing the player to feel empathetic(i.e. when she cries, you feel sad etc.), but only being useful as a healer means she won't get to see a lot of time on the battlefield.
Lucca has great weapons that deal ranged/projectile damage, and gets some of the best equips in the game, but with weak physical stats and most(not all) of her techniques fall short of being versatile enough for her to be more than just "the one character who uses fire2". Ayla cannot wield any weapons, can only equip weaker armor(accessories not withstanding) and cannot use magic. However, her techniques are EXTREMELY powerful(Dino Tail, anyone?) and with very high Physical attack and defense respectively, she can take it as well as dish it out, meaning she has greater liberty at using varying strategies for dealing with a wide assortment of enemies/bosses. Vantage point: Ayla. -------------------- Oops! Had the silly thing in reverse.^_^" "I'm afraid the mouse is SMACK...dab in the middle of enemy territory." ~Kefka -- Dissidia Final Fantasy |

I chose Ayla for pretty much the same reason as everyone else.
I've also wondered whether this character was inspired by Jean Auel's Ayla character in her novels. Anyone know? This post has been edited by finalalias on 27th June 2011 14:00 |

But I always thought Flea was female for a while. Now I'm even more scared. |

Flea explicitly tells you that he is male.

Ayla has a few humorous moments, but I prefer Lucca. Funny herself, smart, cocky, and hits things with a hammer up close.
When I first started playing the game though, I didn't realize her sprite was her with glasses. I thought it was one eye and she was a cyclops... it was like I had an epiphany when I figured out what it was years later. |

I'm going to raise my hand in the name of Schala as well. The tragedy of her story gets me every time I play the game. Janus' dependence on her and Magus' later devotion to finding and protecting her brought a lot of heart into a very depressing point in the game. Her unconditional love of all people, especially the earthbound is very inspiring as is her loyalty to her mother despite the pain.
Although, everyone of us would have loved to see this: -------------------- |

I like Lucca. She's smart; she's confident; and she has the most touching backstory, in my opinion. I really like the others a lot, but they are just nowhere near as cool as Lucca. Also Lucca wears glasses. I like glasses.

This is a hard choice.
Lucca is cute, fun, smart, has good story, and is the party's best offensive mage. Marle is cute, fun, empathic, has good story, and is the party's best defensive mage. I chose Marle because she's my favorite party member and I like her scenes with Crono. I definitely agree with the people saying Sala should have been on the poll. She might have been my first choice. I'm don't like Ayla. Sure she's cute, but I'm not a fan of the cave woman amazon type, I really hate those super-revealing outfits (though it's not as bad as some, and Ayla manages to look cute in spite of it), her way of talking is fun at first but gets old really fast, and while she's a great bruiser she's pretty useless with magic. I cringe every time I have to put her in to charm something. Quote (laszlow @ 5th September 2009 12:04) I'd like Lucca and Marle a lot more (and I like them decently already) if they weren't so slooooow. True that. Fortunately, there's a remedy: SPEED CAPSULES!!! I had Marle as my fastest character by midgame. Unfortunately, there aren't enough for both until late, so I mostly left Lucca out, even though they make a great combo otherwise. Quote (TheRandomGambler @ 26th June 2011 22:15) Marle is a well developed character, causing the player to feel empathetic(i.e. when she cries, you feel sad etc.), but only being useful as a healer means she won't get to see a lot of time on the battlefield. I PROTEST! In addition to being the game's best healer (which alone would be enough for me to include her), she has some great dual and triple techs. And then there's Haste, easily the most AWESOME spell in the game. Quote (TheRandomGambler @ 26th June 2011 22:15) Lucca has great weapons that deal ranged/projectile damage, and gets some of the best equips in the game, but with weak physical stats and most(not all) of her techniques fall short of being versatile enough for her to be more than just "the one character who uses fire2". Sure, she's doesn't have much versatility. But so what? She's a cute, smart, BADASS fire mage. If speed wasn't an issue, I'd use the Marle-Lucca duo for the whole game. |

Definitely Ayla is the most attractive of the three, powerful, strong and fast, very attractive in general to be the favorite of the players. While it is true that Marle is cute, with that childish personality, overall I played several playtrough with to the two blondes along with Chrono, more than anything to have in the party the both types of heroines, the warrior and the weak cute white mage. But overall I remember taking Lucca more times than any other because of her incredible magic power for massive damage, or make a All Star party with Chrono and Marle, after all Chrono Trigger is the story of these three characters.
If we are on the subject of the most innocent and tender, definitely one falls for Schala. It's perfect, noble, beautiful, suffered. No doubt inspired the desire to protect it and its outcome is really sad throughout the game unable to save her from her fate. Even more after the Dream Devourer in the DS version. -------------------- "The black wind begins to blow... Okay... All right, give me your best shot... If you are prepared for the void!" I liked Marle because of her relationship to chrono being pretty much his girlfriend without saying it. It touched the romantic in me. Asuka's picture says it all. I always use her with Lucca because antipod 3 just wrecks everything. They way turns work on this game make the speed stat almost worthless in most fights. Currently grinding out to fight Spekkio in his final form though.
We'll see after that. I'd pick Schala though if she where an option. She was such a majestic character with a beautiful theme song. Too bad CC made her ending so tragic. -------------------- He's Back. He is The_TrueBOSS. Check me and my partners out at: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTrueBOSSofJupiter |

Gameplaywise I prefer Ayla, I generally like the "thief" kind of character in RPGs
As a character, I prefer Lucca, just because her story's not as generic as Marle's. Marle's just the typical "damisel in distress" who needs her blue prince... I'm getting really sick of that kind of setup... Really And on a side note, I guess Schala would be the female character with the best story IMO. |

Fiona's back story was also captivating, what with the green thumb going back to the Age of Zeal. As for main 3, Lucca could be pretty entertaining. |

My impression from the posts tell me the game is easy enough no matter what character you pick. You prefer one over the other based off personal bias instead of what would win you the game.
In that case I choose Marle. She's on every critical battle. That haste and extra healing come in handy. I know CT is more than analyzed at this point but I'd still want a healer in case there's something we overlooked. This applies to other games too. -------------------- https://www.youtube.com/user/Greatermaxim Terra - LV 99 - HP 9999 - MP 999 Equipment - - - Abilities Illumina - - - - - Fight Genji Shield - - Morph Oath Veil - - - - Magic Minerva - - - - - Item Ribbon Economizer |
