I just downloaded FFT off of PSN and at first it was very difficult for me to start playing so i messed around with it for a while, and finally figured out how to change jobs and learn skills. after i figured all that out, i gave it a go, failed horribly on my second trip through the meadows...or what ever the one between igros and gariland is. so i started over... build my characters as advised in the walk through, and well i cooked through everything up to dorter trade city....i was doing so well... i hadn't saved. Ramza turned into a crystal and poof back to my initial save at gariland magic city... I was thouroughly put off by my ineptitude as a gamer...lol i've been gaming for the longest time, and know better...save and save often. Just wanted to let you all in on my epic failure, but i am having alot of fun with the FF series right now i got 4 games being played at once, i am farthest on FF7 but i am also playing FF6(3 on an SNES emulator) FFT and FFVIII oh btw, does everyone on this site hate FF8 i noticed no walkthrough, ir is it just that linear of a game? Squalls crappy attitude makes me wanna punch his neck.
Moderator Edit To discuss FF8 in these terms, there's dozens of threads you can find in the General Squenix forum. As you can see below, Nyte's post is totally off topic for the FFT forum, which we want to avoid. - R51 This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 10th January 2010 12:56 |

FF8 is generally abhorred around these parts, for reasons vague and unknown ( I like to think it angers the power gamers because the enemies are always the same level as you, so no one can waltz through the game and one shot everything) most people will tell you it has to do with bad translation (time kompression) and the junction system (too easy to manipulate stats) but we know the truth...no non-human party members. Plus it's a long, drawn out soap opera, and the love story smacks you in the face the whole time through.

Quote most people will tell you it has to do with bad translation (time kompression) I was under the impression that that was done on purpose. Ultimecia said all her c's as k's, which I assumed to be more than coincidence seeing as she was the only character who did that. As for the topic of this thread, I had a pretty depressing save experience myself. FFX was my first FF game, and I milked just about every minute out of that thing. I had played about 70 hours on my file when my brother went on the PS2 one day and accidentally saved over it. Luckily I had a backup, but the backup had only 50 hours of gameplay. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Of course, in some games (like FFT), there can can be such a thing as saving too often, if you're only using one file. So, when the game asks you if you want to save, you should save on a seperate file.

Quote (Nytecrawla @ 10th January 2010 04:55) FF8 is generally abhorred around these parts, for reasons vague and unknown ( I like to think it angers the power gamers because the enemies are always the same level as you, so no one can waltz through the game and one shot everything) most people will tell you it has to do with bad translation (time kompression) and the junction system (too easy to manipulate stats) but we know the truth...no non-human party members. Plus it's a long, drawn out soap opera, and the love story smacks you in the face the whole time through. Actually, I like Final Fantasy VIII. I also like human characters. That's part of the reason I hate Tactics Advance and Tactics Advance A2. This is not my Ivalice. Get me back to War of the Lions. The only non-human characters I really like, are Terra and Cecil, and Golbeza. Gotta give him some credit. But Square started getting ridiculous with all the Viera's and Banger's and Noo Moo's and however-you-spell-'ems. As BlueHighwind said "The human figure is perfect. Don't mess with a good thing." Moderator Edit And this is why Nytecrawla should not post off topic. Please don't continue to derail a FFT thread by talking about FF8. -R51 This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 14th January 2010 16:32 |
