FF tactics question

:1 is it worth it the game?

2:What version? works the best?

I was wondering since i do like strategy rpgs where you move around.

I played bahamut lagoon and i liked it very much.

I just got the gameboy advance version but is it any better than the playstation version?

So far the music flows well in this game and i'm enjoying it very much.

The GBA version (Tactics Advance) is not a port or remake; it is only related in that they are both tactical RPGs.

The original is widely regarded to be superior to the Advance one. I recommend the PSP version is possible- it has extra characters, items, features, etc. as well as a better translation and some lovely cutscenes with voice acting.

I got a problem folks,do you guys also get trouble from people going into prison?

I just got a game over because of the stupid judge who won't allow physical atacks in some areas wich sucks.

This game reminds of playing a board game with rules, sort of like lofr board game wich is full of rules and regulations.

The PS1 version has none of those silly judges, jails, or rules. It plays more like a traditional strategy RPG. Trust me on this one; FF Tactics on the PS1 and FF Tactics Advance are two very, very different games.

Actually the whole thing is pretty cool.

The thing they did in the gba version adds a bit of fun to it,irritating but fun.

The dialect seems to be nothing special and all characters exept montblanc and the hero and the school girl seem to be cool characters.

Characters like:the beastmeaster wich i cannot remember his name but its all random anyways lack any individuality.

I have FFT A for 2 weeks or so and have played over 100 hours tongue.gif

IMHO not the worst game - Even though, the storyline and the characters are very...childish in my eyes. But the battles are fun, maybe except for the first ones which I found quite boring.

i got a few questions folks

1:Is there a way to override the judge when attacking for certain rules? i heard there was some sort of card that makes it so you get a ticket out of jail or something or prevent it.

2:What are rp poinst for? after i win i've noticed i got rp points?

3:do all characters have limitations to job? or can i eventually put any job on any character? There is this big ugly banga that all i can give him are:warrior class and monk class.

I also got this even uglier race wich i forgot its name that has:Healer, beastmaster and black mage.

So,what works the best in combo of jobs?

I tried to teach the hero as a black mage to mix jobs and i keep getting killed.

Also:Is there any second way of earning cash? Sometimes i lack equipment for certain jobs, like in order to have a black mage i need various players with a staff and robe,i doubt i'l ever have more than 1 though since its very tough to actually work as a black mage.

1: Yes, eventually you start getting cards that relate to each rule, you can use them to remove rules or use them to add more rules (Fighting against only melee characters? Add a no attack law)

I believe they can be bought from Ezel

2: It's JP, not RP, it means Judge Points, they're used to start combos which can use a multitide of other party members (Providing they have the combo learned and equiped) to deal large amounts of damage

Having 10 JP allows you to summon a race specific Totema providing you've beat it in the story

3: Yes, each race has set jobs they can use

Humes has rather standard jobs, Soldier, Fighter, Black Mage, White Mage, Blue Mage, Archer etc

Bangaa tend to have melee jobs, such as Monks and Dragoons

Nu-Mou have more magic oriented jobs, White Mage, Black Mage, Beast Master, Morpher and so on

Viera tend to have speed based jobs, Assasin, Ninja, Sniper, Red Mage (Who uses a Rapier), Archer and so on

Moogles have more unique jobs, such as Juggler, Gunner and Machinist

Hope that helped

Best to combine magic jobs with magic jobs and melee jobs with melee jobs
Like a Black Mage with White Magic or a Dragoon with Monk abilities

Just need sensible spending, remember, you don't have to have EVERYONE having the same equipment
Say you hypothetically have a staff that teaches fire, a robe with thunder and boots with blizzard and you have 3 black mages
Give each mage one of them and when they learn the spells swap them around
By the time you've learned the spells you should be able to afford a more complete set of equipment for them

@3: You can unlock other jobs after your characters learned some abilities, for instance you can unlock class X if you have Y abilities learned from job A and Z abilities from job B.

But aren't jobs unlocked by buying weapons?

For an example i have a bangaa monk and i got this new weapon for him and he had a new ability called exorcise.

Or my mage creature that is seriously ugly has esuna from giving it a huge staff i bought.

It's true that equipping new items gives characters new abilities, IF they're the right class (not all items grant their abilities to every class). You must be in that class and keep the item equipped for enough battles to learn the ability permanently, at which point you can change classes or change equipment. Bas has the right of it; it's by learning abilities in this manner that you unlock new jobs.

AHH!! So its sort of like the learning system of final fantasy 9?

Yeah i get it!!

I am curious about something,is templar class a fighting class or caster? all i seem to have so far is rasp.

Depending on the fights it can be usefull if there are rules against melee and everybody is a caster.

Exactly. The only real difference between this system and the one in Final Fantasy 9 is that, to my knowledge, there is no armor or accessory that teaches offensive abilities in Tactics Advance.

Templars are support casters, meaning that they have spells like Rasp and Haste. If I'm not mistaken, they also get Lifebreak later on, which deals damage to the enemy equal to the difference between their current hit points and their maximum hit points. So, if the Templar has 270 HP maximum, and has 132 HP currently, Lifebreak would deal 138 damage (132 + 138 = 270).

Ultimately, I'd say Templars have a place on the team even if the laws forbid magic or physical attacks. They're very versatile, reasonably durable, and almost guaranteed to increase the overall damage output of your team.

I agree with what people say about the judge thing.

Ultimately its a pain, but in the end game the whole thing with being able to put a red card and mess with people.

personaly i like to have strong attacking char. with the ability to heal/support in some way

til level 40 i masterd monk skills in combination with the chemist skills
worked like a charm for me...
strong distant and close attacks and the abillity to throw items all over the field and the nice Chackra monk skill helped out a lot to being able to give the magic users back some MP points
after that i masterd Samurai skills and switched it with monk
im now level 49 and Ramza doesn't get in trouble a lot
mostly its been a cakewalk on easy street for him.. happy.gif

but im sure i would try other combinations when i would play the game again
