And now that the Gators have drubbed the Sooners, I've taken that down in favor of this, which apparently has been circulating for some time but Kotaku posted today:

Ok I don't even have any pics, but Left 4 Dead 4 Kids is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen haha. I definately had more than a few childhood dreams where me and my friends were fighting off zombies and/or terrorists at the school playground....

That's my current wallpaper. The guy is Ken Matsushiro from the manga "Yakitate! Japan" (which, by the way, is awesome). He's a baker and he kicks ass. This post has been edited by Silver_Zombie on 2nd February 2009 00:21 -------------------- You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one... |

That's my desktop on my laptop at the moment. I have a soft spot for robots, I guess and felt like I needed a new one after discovering that Josh had L4D kids as his too. I'd like to point out the "Dell Dock" which I admit is a blatant rip-off of a Mac's dock style, but all the same a fun feature for me. Shockingly enough, my computers are the -one- place where I like to keep everything neat and organized, so cluttered desktops always get me nervous. Having that helps me keep everything easily assessable without losing anything in how she looks. If you notice the clock at the bottom right hand corner, you'll probably also get a good feel for my sleeping habits too. (Or lack thereof.) -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Well, in a recent flare of Zero Punctuation Enthusiasm, I put this on my desktop:

After our office moved across the hall in February, I took the chance to take the monitor off my Linux machine and set up dual-monitors on my XP box, that I use most often. So, until I have time to set up a proper Josh-designed wallpaper for my new 2560x1024 resolution, I'm using this:

Having that helps me keep everything easily assessable without losing anything in how she looks. I know exactly what you mean. I keep a 'TO DO, DO IT' notepad file and a universal 'University' folder on my desktop and that's it. My friend has the Dell Dock and he's told me it's quite useful. My other friend feels the need to keep clutter to a minimum, but instead of simply sorting everything into folders, he has two icons on his desktop, and the resolution as high as it will go on his 22" HD monitor. In other words, you can hardly see the icons, so what in the world is the point in that? It's not even a desktop it's more like a cover. I would like to post mine, but it's just a picture of my girlfriend and my best friend, and four icons. Not very interesting. I shall counter Josh's zombie pic with my own image of a zombie apocalypse, but one that is more relevant to my interests.

When I first saw the first Final Fantasy XIV concept art, I immediately thought the wide format of the image would be perfect for my hoppin' dual monitors. Therefore, I now have this:

Wow, was I really the last person to post in this thread? Do the rest of you just keep wallpapers forever?
I stumbled across the Sailor Jerry site the other day - I forget how, I think it was a banner ad on one of the tattoo blogs I read. Anyway, found their collection of wallpaper and decided it was time for a change, so I put one on each of my monitors at work as follows: Also, in a bid to get a prize in a contest for promoting the US World Cup bid for 2018 or 2022, I changed the wallpaper in my office's main conference room to this: -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

It's too bad a chunk of these have been 404'd.
Anyway, my desktop wallpaper changes quite literally every five minutes - the newer Macs have an automatic desktop changer thingy. I keep my wallpapers in their own folder on my desktop. After downloading several from this thread, the total is now 99. A large chunk are steampunk, although the styles widely vary. I'm amazed I haven't posted in this thread before.
I'm have a Pokémon trend in desktop backgrounds currently. I usually only change if I find something particularly fantastic on 4walled, and I actually like it for more than 12 seconds. |

For a period of about 3 years now I was using this desktop, some art of a set from the Mega64 show. But recently I got an awesome widescreen samsung and that one wouldn't quite cut it so I was desktopless for a little bit, but as luck would have it a Mega64 fan made a new desktop in full 1920x1080 resolution.
My new desktop, also Mega64 related. A mini version here: This post has been edited by FallingHeart on 17th January 2010 09:19 -------------------- "We're not tools of the government or anyone else. Wizwum: And I've been indulging in memes too long too; my first thought in response to yours was "take it easy". I've recently got a computer with Windows 7, and I've been enjoying its wallpaper-changing feature. (I got one for free for XP, which actually worked slightly better, but this will do.) I currently have a whole folder of wallpapers, set to change every three hours. They include but are not limited to the following: * two pictures of lightning bolts * one picture of rain over mountains * one picture of a lake in Grand Teton National Park * three pictures of Éclair from Kiddy Grade * two pictures of Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion * one picture of the Apollo 11 rocket * one picture of a pair of wind turbines over a grassy area with some cows * one picture of a pool table, snatched off of Wikipedia * one picture of an open glass jar with conpeito floating out, a nod to Stellvia of the Universe * the various country-specific pictures that came with Win7, including a roll of hay from presumably somewhere in the midwestern US, a bunch of penguins on a shore in South Africa, and a photo of the White Cliffs of Dover Edit So I just discovered the Caves of Narshe wallpapers section, which is awesome. I grabbed the Pink Nu Spekkio one; plan to add that to my playlist. By the way, is it possible to make even a basic 1024x768 version of the CoN logo but with all four colors? I'd totally use that. Or I guess I could snip them together myself given that they're all PNG files... Okay, I just made this. This is 1024x768, made PNGs in GIMP. I don't know what the difference is between these two versions; there were two options when saving multi-layered stuff as PNG, and one was "merging" and the other was "flatten" I think. These are the results.
