I almost did a double take when I saw this one. Lord of the Rings, the game, for Game Boy Advance. I had heard that there had been a Lord of the Rings game made quite a while ago...but this one may actually turn into something!

Clicking the above link will take you to a menu where you can look at screenshots and art. The screenshots, IMO, aren't bad, and look more cute then serious. The art is quite nice. But as you all know, cute graphics don't make a game.

This link takes you to a news story on the game. It sounds fairly good; coming out late 2002, and control of the characters as they join in. Doesn't say much about anything else, but more news will be posted as it comes through.

Well, I suppose it should also be known that there are at least two more other LotR games coming out.

There is the one being released by Electronic Arts that's based off the movie.  It is an action/adventure game that focuses almost exclusively on Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimly and their adventures, so it doesn't begin till after the hobbits meet Strider.

Then there is three games presented by Sierra Online that will be "The Official Games Based on J.R.R. Tolkiens Literary Works: The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit".  Scheduled for this year is The Fellowship of the Ring.  It will also be an adventure game, but with more emphasis on puzzles and RPG tendencies.  It begins where the book begins and will focus on Frodo, but at special times you will be able to play the other party members.  For 2003 The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Online are expected, also presented by Sierra Online.

If these are ports of the SNES LotR games, don't waste your money. They were HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE games.
