Now maybe it was just me but I thought that, provided you were properly equipped, the weapons weren't that hard. I was wondering what everyone else thought. I would also like to know what materia/weapon you had equipped when you did it. Oh yeah what level too.

Emerald Weapon
Cloud Lvl 75: Apocolyspe- Knights of the Round, Mime, and HP Plus
Tifa Lvl 72: Premium Heart- Mime, W-Item, Final Attack-Pheonix, Enemy Skill, Deathblow, Steal, and HP Plus (All Mastered)
Yuffie Lvl 70: Her Ultimate Weapon- Master Magic, Master Command, Master Summon, Mega-All, HP Plus, and W-Summon

Ruby Weapon
Cloud Lvl 80: Apocolyspe- Master Summon, Master Magic, and Master Command
Tifa Lvl 76: Premium Heart- Mime, W-Item, Final Attack-Pheonix, Enemy Skill, Deathblow, Steal, and HP Plus (All Mastered)
Yuffie Lvl 73: Her Ultimate Weapon- Master Magic, Master Command, Master Summon, Mega-All, HP Plus, and W-Summon

Well actually I just started replaying an old save of FF7 again yesterday cuz i was really bored. I'll tell you when I get to the weapons. Can't remember, but I probably didn't fight them originally until everyone was around the 90's in level.

to be honest i always thought emerald and ruby were pretty easy myself.  i don't really remember much about emerald -- just that he is the easier of the two.  ^_^ ruby isn't hard either.  i just let him eat two of my members and had cloud equipped with minerva (is that right?) to dodge all the comet 2's.  i think i might have used regen and resist -- really the battle was just a matter of time and ethers :)

If you use my method then Ruby is definitly the easier of the two. Use W-Summon to cast Hades then KoR. Hades will stop him and he won't be able to counter your KoR with Ultima. (He'll pretty much just stand there the rest of the fight). Just make sure everyone in the group has a Mime materia and just keep mimicing the attack over and over again until he's dead. (I know it's a cheap way to win but it works  :E )

Personally, I never saw any real point to defeating Ruby, aside from being able to claim that you did so.  The prize is a Gold Chocobo, despite the fact that you probably already have one.

Emerald is worth it, seeing as how he gives you the powerful Master Command, Master Summon, and Master Magic materia.  The only reason I can justify having Ruby weapons is as a further test of one's strength.

I suggest attempting to defeat Ruby without any summons, just beating the snot out of him in a physical bout.  I assume you all know how to enter the battle, so that you do not lose two of your three characters.

However, it's still much more fun to train and race chocobos than it is to win one.

I only beat Emerald. And without underwater materia, mind you. Basically, make sure he doesn't use Aire Tam storm by killing those little guys, and using lots of limits. I was around lv 76. Cloud and Cid's limits dominated.

You can make Emerald easier, remember, by only taking the materia you absolutely need.  Aire Tam (read it backwards) Storm is useless unless you have a large number of materia.

And Hades is indeed the key to Ruby IMO.  I had levelled up too much in preparation for fighting both, really; I regret that it wasn't more of a challenge by them.  For this reason, optional uberbosses are the only situation where I think FF8-style enemies-levelling-up-with-you style is a good thing (though I have yet to evaluate FFT's use of it).

Another way to get around the Aire Tam Storm attack is to have one of your members equipped with the Final Attack-Pheonix combination.

I did the same thing, so now know how you feel.

Diamond is the required one (outside Midgar)
Sapphire is the one that gets blown away outside Junon

Umm..isn't that just Ultimate Weapon, who survives? Because it looks shockingly exactly like Ultimate Weapon. I've never even heard of Sapphire. It's like throwing out random names of shiny stones. "The coolest one was Amethyst Weapon! He rulz! He r0X0rs! w00t!"

He is never called Sapphire in-game, it's a name that has just kinda developed for him. But it's not Ultimate Weapon. Sapphire gets its head blown clean off.
