I think FF7 had some of the best songs:
Bombing Mission
J-E-N-O-V-A
One Winged Angel (Estuans Interius Ira Vehementi SEPHIROTH!)

As for CT:
Enhasa and all those kind of towns theme, or the world maptheme of that age after the disaster
Ocean Palace

In FF6:
Battle and Boss theme (my bro's very facorite songs, he really liked the electric guitar-like instrument in the songs)

Super Mario RPG for SNES (still counts as Square!) had awesome songs. If u study them well, they perfected the songs with countless intruments for each one. Surprising!

Also, i would like to give my sincere respects for O great Nobuo Uematsu thumbup.gif

All of FF music is pretty good but I have only one favorite and thats

FFX's Zanarkand

I just liked the melody to it I burned it to a cd and I listen to it while I go to sleep.

And I will probably periodically update this post, as I just did a moment ago.

I've always been partial to the overworld themes of final fantasy games, the best undoubtedly for me would have to be WoB from FF6. It's a perfect piece, very moving.

FF7 also had a terrific overworld theme, very sombre and atmospheric, matching the setting very well. It was almost a shame; everytime you'd climb into the highwind, the atmosphere is broken the minute you hear the parpy bloody airship theme.

The song from FF8 that sticks in my mind would definately be the theme for the beach landing / garden invasion. Fits the scenes perfectly!

FF5 black chocobo theme. Groovy!

Chrono Trigger has a fair few good tracks in it, my favourite being the enhasa / 10,000 BC themes. The lydian sound is floaty and arcane, suiting the era / setting very well.

Although off track, perhaps my favourite tracks in any RPG would be the overworld theme from Terranigma. Simply magnificent in my honest opinion!

That's about it.

One of my favorite FF songs (and possibly my favorite FF VII song along with Cid's theme) is the Cosmo Canyon theme, which was made awesomer by This.

How you guys know the actual titles of these songs I have no clue...

Anyway, there's a CT song that I believe is exclusively on the world map at certain locations. The only place I really remember hearing it is the island where the old blacksmith guy lives. I can't help but to drop the control and listen to it for a minute or so everytime it starts playing...

And the other is that one song in FFVII that they used in the trailer for Advent Child is probably my favorite.

Chances are no one will be able to actually figure out what songs I'm talking about for my pathetic descriptions, but oh well.

But if you do, please fill me in on the names if you know them. Thanks.

Oh, and of course the classic crystal theme and the battle victory music can't go unmentioned... biggrin.gif

Brad:
Refering to the CT song are you talking about the mystic village theme? Because that one is used multiple times, including in the catherdral and also later in the earthbound village.
Edit

Edit- Laszlow, that song is awesome

I also recently got a copy of the Chrono Trigger Brink of Time album. That's an awesome CD. Jazz + CT= yeaahaaabuddy.

The reason we know the names is 'cause on the soundtracks that's their names.
