how many people fondly remember Owzer's mansion?

I wrote this in another thread recently, and I was just thinking, there's so much of a whole production that we actually sorta neglect. When we look back at a thing years later, we remember some parts really vividly, but...I mean, yeah, who here fondly remember Owzer's mansion? I think the most famous thing about it is that the boss has a naked female human form which is slightly less naked in the western version of the game. Otherwise, Owzer's just some weirdo creepy rich guy in the WoR with a large mansion.

This isn't the only example -- who crows about the WoB town theme anymore? I sometimes wonder what would win if we did a "town themes only" music competition. Heck, I think that might be interesting just because we could really compare music tracks on a more common basis, based on how they're used in game.

Speaking of music, the first time I walked into a cafe and heard Shadow's Theme, I actually thought that was the cafe theme.

What other under-mentioned parts of FFVI can you think of?

The Owzer House is a really good one. In terms of towns, idk if it is an overlooked moment, but the Locke scenario where he meets Celes is great. B. Day Suits and cider, how can you go wrong?

There are so many that... I can't think of any more right now!

I'll throw out a couple from the WoB. First, the Serpent Trench, where they really tried to do something different for a bit with the fast-paced Mode 7 path selection. Whether it really worked or not, I'm not sure, but I liked the way they set it up as a departure from the usual.

The second one is the escape from the Magitek Research Facility. There's a lot of plot information that comes at you really quick there, as well as a lot of fast-paced battles (with more Mode 7 fun). And then you get a tricky boss, get past him, and then think you're away... but big robot arms.

That's a good one. I'll add the scene right after that in Nikeah, with Cyan and the woman in the tavern. It's a short, simple scene, hence why it could easily be overlooked. But it's important because it fleshes out his character a bit more, and lightens the mood.

An underrated scene and sequence from the game is Relm trapped in the burning building. It's a great moment for Shadow's backstory, and I think it's well done though it's not often talked about.

Another one is Sabin holding up the building hit by the Light of Judgment. Everyone talks about the train suplex, but holding the building that long is impressive.

There's a great deal? How about the coastlines of lands and the dead ends in caves? What about those forest squares that contain Chocobo stables.

The one I found is behind South Figaro when you escape the first time. In the World of Ruin a couple is falling in love then they leave one by one.

Yeah, I admit, I didn't really word that well. Just thought it'd be interesting to highlight them.

And those are two interesting details.

Incidentally, speaking of caves, I remember there's one cave where it looks like a passage should connect through a "ceiling", but doesn't. Not sure if it was intentional, and I don't remember which cave, unfortunately. May be part of Figaro Cave?

Anyway, I was just thinking...what places/scenarios in FF6 let battles happen without bringing up the battle music? Here's the ones I can think of, tell me if I have any of them wrong:
* Narshe, against town guards, I think
* the Caves of Narshe, Locke and moogles
* the hills of Narshe, two parties vs. Kefka
* Opera House, when rushing to stop Ultros
* the Veldt
* the factory, on the conveyor belt, I think
* some parts of the Floating Continent, if I recall correctly
* that one battle in Thamasa with the guest character
* vs. the Air Force

It feels like Seigfried could have been developed more. Keep in mind I haven't played the advanced version.

Seigfriend looked like it could have been an epic battle somewhere on top of the Collesseum. You would win a very rare item.

Though the game will always have a place in my heart in the timeframe it was developed.

I agree with that. They could have done something with the Siegfried/Ziegfried story. But the scenes with them are a lot of fun, and I like the mystery of it. It leaves some threads to be followed that the game doesn't touch.

I agree that the weirdness of the whole thing actually makes it better. I'm glad it's not resolved at all. Good inclusion to the topic, though.

One thing I'm not sure about with the topic is that I have a hard time deciding what is overlooked. Would Cyan's dream be overlooked? I think that is an incredible sequence, but I don't hear people talk about it very much. But it's very interesting, though it can be frustrating if you're not prepared for it.

Well, we authors don't want to give out our secrets that easily. Imagine what would happen if the game connected all the dots for you?

I have a private for you.
