Happy Valentine's Day for tomorrow (or today, if you're from an especially silly time zone) from all of us here in the Caves. For some reason, we chose this day to launch our brand new Final Fantasy VII section. Then we pulled it forward to today anyway. Still. We've deviated a little from the norm on this one. While you'll still find the game data coverage you've come to expect from us, we've focused on adding more in the way of guides and tips to this section. No longer are sidequests bundled into unexpected places in the walkthrough; you'll now find detailed guides dedicated to the optional and non-sequential elements of the game, written both by staff and various long-time friends of the site, who are credited on the section main page. We're also trying out a new spoiler system for the section, and we'd love some feedback on it. It's not perfect — if you go and look at the last chapter of the walkthrough when you're still playing the beginning, you're still going to get things spoiled — but hopefully it should largely protect you from wandering into massive spoilers accidentally, unless you turn the spoiler option on to view the full section content. Plus, as usual, you'll find a selection of fanart and fanfiction, and a few downloadables we thought you might enjoy. As ever, please do let us know of any errors or omissions, or things we could improve, particularly things you think should be spoilered that we might not have noticed. And finally, a massive, massive thank-you to everyone who's contributed to the section over the stupidly long time we've been building it, and special congratulations to Mr Thou, whose work on the section leads him to officially becoming a CoN staff member as of today. Enjoy! ♥ |

Wow. All I can say is you did a great job on this section. It is obviously much more detailed than the other ones, much more stradegies and such.
Also the spoiler section is a great new idea for the story. All in all this new way is great. And congrats to Thou for his promotion. Been a long time coming for both. -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? Life goes on... |

First I'd like to say congratulations to Mr. Thou on the promotion. I'm sure he'll make an excellent member of the staff.
After that I'd like to say "What in the world?". Normaly, I wouldn't realy be so surprised at a new site section but I've been backreading allot and I got the impression that this would never happen. Give me a little credit here after all, a FF VII section been suggested many times but the answer has always been the same. Anyway, I hope its needless to say that I'm not complaining, just a little shocked. Thanks for the new section guys. I wonder when the FF VII fanart will start rolling in? It'll be interesting to see how the spoiler system works too. Hmm, I think I'll go and see how it works right now. CoN, a place that's always full of nice surprises . Edit Before I go, I'd like to mention the nice new avatars everybody. It didn't go unnoticed that the larger part of the staff all suddenly changed them to 3D ones. Now I think I know why . Thanks for the comments.
There is already loads of fanart, and even some fanfics, so go check it out. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

This is possibly the best section on the entire site. So detailed, and you got some great screenshots. I'm surprised that it came out so soon as to be a half a year after the FFI section. Well here's to a section of a game on the site that I've actually beaten!
Oh, and the spoiler system is a great idea for those who haven't played trhough yet. Purely genious. Congratulations Mr. Thou as well! Awesome... you guys did an excellent job on the new seciton! And congrats on your promotion, Mr. Thou!
This was quite unexpected. Like Tonepoet, I thought that something like this would never happen, especially on a site geared more towards old school FF fans. What's the next game you guys are going to add to the site? EDIT: Oh, and about the avatar thing, I never saw it coming... but now as I look at all the new staff avatars it all becomes blatantly obvious since they all relate to FF7 in some way... Well, it seems fitting somehow, that a game just over seven years old, on CoN, just over seven,on the seventh day of the week, be the fifth game covered (That I own) which is two short of seven, and this is the thirteenth, which, add one and divided by 2 is 7, and since Narshe is in FF6 which is the remaining one short of seven and the site started about FF6, and I am unable to think of even a remoletly relevant seventh thing to say...
So, I'll celebrate in seven different ways. yay, woo, woohoo, ya beauty, go FF7 section go!, cham-pi-oooh-nees,FF7 for the cup. Nice work, and congratulations to Mr Thou. The section is a great addition, and might just get some of the 'graphics make a game' crowd on board at last. Like some of my friends, but hopefully not... On that old school bit, PS3 is coming, so really, the PS1 ones are as old-school as FF6 was when the site first started, so FF7 is rather fitting actually. Edit "(That I own) " Wasn't there. Point and laugh at the idiot seven times everyone! It should be noted that the first enhancement to the section is now done, too. Thanks to Neal, we have a selection of over 500 screenshots from the game that is now complete and available from the FF7 section.
Thanks for all the well wishes on the new section. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

It's not a lie when we say it had been on its way for quite some time now -- Look at Aeris Art 8 and how it's dated -- 3.7.04. It was done specifically for a layout, and it wasn't even one of the first things done!
Go vote on the new fanart, enjoy the section, and here's to many more! -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Congratulations Mr. Thou!
The FFVII is excellent and I'm impressed with the speed with which you've constructed it. Bravo |

Yay! A section for my favorite game! I zipped through and rated all the new fan art. Now if I only had some free time I'd be making fanart for each character in the story. Maybe I'll be able to squeeze in enough time for one.
Great work by the way. I find it kinda funny my Cloud pics used for the CoN layout are all mirror imaged. This post has been edited by Rujuken on 14th February 2005 09:11 -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

Quote (Kane @ 14th February 2005 07:28) The FFVII is excellent and I'm impressed with the speed with which you've constructed it. Bravo Considering I wasn't in on the beginning, but I joined almost a year ago, this is a somewhat funny "speed". And by the way, while all of us did a geat job on different departments, it should be stated here that all material we ever producted, was it text, screens or pieces of code was overviewed if not created by Tiddles. He forgot to mention it in his post, but none of it would be here on the site if he had lost his courage during this lengthy process. Congratulations, mate. |

Congratulations, Mr Thou.
The new section is fantastic, incredibly detailed and well-constructed. The optional spoiler system is a great idea, and I honestly think it's the most complete FFVII section on the web. Thanks for the section, and great work. |

Also, we started initial development on the section just before I got married, IIRC. I haven't played FF7 in a long long time. However, the uber-awesomeness of the new section makes me want to bust it out.
Kudos, guys. You never cease to amaze me. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

Watch out, CoN is on a rampage. This is really starting to look like a full blown FF website with its sights set on overtaking the other FF sites. What a large and hard working staff we have here.

Best thing I've gotten on this VD for sure. You guys rock in seriously awesome ways of coolness, badassedness, and things that don't suck. If i90 is right, then CoN will be by far the best All FF's site some day.

I look and I see you add Final Fantasy Tactics to this site. Visit again and I see Final Fantasy I. Look again and you add Final Fantasy VII. At this rate, given a few more years, you'll have in-depth content for FF game there is, including ones that haven't been released, or haven't even been thought up yet.
Thanks and congratulations for the FF7 section, R51 and company, and for giving me another reason to lurk around this site. |

I'm a while late, [/understatement], but I -- and we -- are glad you like it.
I personally slaved for many hours over the minigames section, trying to make it as completely accurate and detailed as I could, and took the screenshots for disc one of the walkthrough myself... I'm just happy that part's over with. =) I hope everyone likes my small contribution, and I hope it makes a lot of people's lives easier in the future, but if it wasn't for Tiddles, R, Neal, and many others keeping it alive we wouldn't be here talking about it. If anyone spots any errors in the minigames sections or other sections done by me... hell, any section at all by anyone... or if you have any suggestions on how to make them better... point it out and we'll jump on it like a dog in heat. -_^ Though I see some of you already have.
