I love this image. It's a shame that it doesn't look all that great as my wallpaper. I cannot find a copy of the image at the 1280x960 resolution that I perfer to use. The image is so good though that I use it anyways.

heart.gif Bill Cosby and heart.gif fractals. Therefore, Bill Cosby + fractal = wub.gif

Update:

This is a model for Setzer's Cards as they are used in the FMV sequences of the PS releases. Displayed like this they are simply too freaking cool, and wub.gif to a mainly black desktop.

I don't post often, but if a topic comes up where I can show how mantastic I am through my desktop, I'll take the chance immediately.

If you don't have a pillows wallpaper, you fail at life

On a side note, shouldn't you all have wallpapers such as this one or perhaps the one you could have if Josh uploaded it and he knows what I'm talking about that little buttmonster pirate.gif

Moderator Edit
I still haven't done that? Jeez, what is wrong with me? I'll try to populate that section this weekend if I can get to it.

Well I'm not quite sure how to put up my desktop stuff, but I will list some images I've had before for desktop backgrounds.

-default green plains background for WinXP
-solid blue default for WinXPClassic
-a screenshot of my friend Alexa's thefacebook.com picture (which I modified to fit a desktop well)
-an excellent 'dark-skies' portrait of Atomos from FFIX
-a Battle of the Planets/Eagle Riders/Gatchaman desktop wallpaper from animewallpapers.com
-a map of the United States, with electoral vote amounts on each state
-fractal-pattern wallpaper from a friend
-self-made wallpaper of white background with red text quoting Dubya ("Do as I say, not as I do.") and D#$% Cheney ("Go f#$% yourself.")
-screenshot of the level 100 boss (the Super Drunk) in the SNES Bust-A-Move
-Caves of Narshe chat, interpreted in the style of Worms World Party (I believe this is Figaro's work)
-various wallpapers involving the Dopefish (if you don't know what that is, go see http://www.dopefish.com/fishinfo.html)
-an amazing CG-style picture of two fighting dragons with a lightning-storm background (I'd really like to show people this!--if you want to see it, just ask)
-Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles wallpaper (even though I know very little about the game itself)
-Final Fantasy Tactics Advance box/guidebook art (I'm not sure which)--the one with the three judges in a blue shade in the back, and Ritz, Marche, Mewt, and Doned in the front in their real-life clothing, with Marche holding the magical book
-an edited picture of Mega Man 1's Cutman menu pic, edited to say FIDELMAN and have the picture of a Fidel Castro sprite on it (tiled for fun)
-a group picture of Freshman Leadership Program 2003
-a photoshopped image of road signs edited to say that YOU are going on a road that leads to I-80 and and FUNNY is going down Business Route 395 (the signs obviously have different directions)
-a political cartoon entitled 'White House P.R. Search Team' with ostriches (heads stuck in sand) talking about trying to find 'WMDs', '2.6 million jobs', 'credibility on the budget', and 'anyone who can say they served in the guard with Bush'
-a MM/MMX-style fanart of a robotic dragon known as Hunter Bahamut (can be found here: http://planet-megaman.com/gallery/albums/u...l_hunbah01.jpg)
-a desktop-modified (again, of my own making) version of a screenshot from 'The Italian Job' (newer version) of Stella Bridger (Charlize Theron) drilling into a safe
-a John Kerry for President sign
-a desktop-modified version of this fanart http://planet-megaman.com/gallery/albums/u...eriance/Arc.jpg, clipped to contain only the the headshot of the girl (on the right), and expanded to fill desktop (I had to scale this correctly too)
-an small animated gif which alternates (on black background) OMG, LOL, WTF, LEET, PWN, STFU, K, THX, BYE, and something else (tiled just for the fun effect)
-a model of what the head of Samus Aran (heroine of the Metroid series) would look like if she were real (a set of diagrams on a black background)
-picture of my friend Sara
-screenshot of someone else's SMRPG battle with Culex (got from the internet; characters used are Mario, Mallow, and Geno; Mallow is casting HP rain on himself)
-picture of me with the MIT mascot Tim the Beaver (and I look noticeably nonphotogenic in this picture)
-a CG picture of a penguin drinking out of a 'milk-box' labeled Windows XP 'We suck more! (and that's guaranteed)'
-a screenshot of a magic card known as Can of Wup Ass
-stills from the anime-style FMVs of Chrono Trigger: Lucca smiling, with a screwdriver in hand; Lucca smiling with her mouth open; Lucca smiling directly at the camera
-a fanart of Lucca called 'Lucca the Dreaming Inventor' (a realistic-looking teenaged Lucca sitting on a couch reading what is probably a textbook, e-mail me if you want to see it and can't find it on the web)
-an anime-style picture of all seven Chrono Trigger characters together (along with the title 'Chrono Trigger' at the top of the screen, in its trademarked version with the clock hands)
-anime-style?/hand-drawn picture of the Masamune from Chrono Trigger
-a screenshot of someone else fighting Queen Zeal atop the Black Omen (from the web)
-FFIV fanart of leviathan's head arising out of the sea (e-mail me if you want to see it)
-each of three screenshots (from the web) of Tellah's YOU SPOONY BARD! line
-a CoN FFVI fan's edit of Flare and Muddle into ChocoFlare
-an FFVI fanart whose origin I don't remember: it's a picture of several moogles sitting at a dimly lighted table playing poker
-sprite of FFV's Omega (stretched to fill desktop)
-a still of Kat (the pink ranger) from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers season 3, with Kat in her PR suit but helmet off (e-mail if you want to see it)
-a fanart of Mega Man X on a speedbike known as the Max 1; the art is called 'MAX 1' and is by phungdinhdung (I don't remember where I picked this up, but it's probably from Dr. Cossacks Lab: the Mega Man PC Website (http://interordi.com/mega_man_pc/))
-a map of the US with a different MM series character hand-drawn onto each state
-Mega Man Anniversary Collection murals: Mega Man 1, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, Mega Man 7 (I can't find 3 or 8)
-a huge (1024x768) sprite collage of quite possibly EVERY sprite/character (whichever is in greater amount) in EVERY MM series game (e-mail if you want to see it; I dare you to play where's [insert character here] with this)
-fanart of Quickman (and Quickman.exe): 'The Scarlet Speedster'
-someone's screenshot of part of her/his collection of MM robot master sprites
-an image of Mega Man, tediously drawn onto a TI-83 calculator (iirc, by Rikkus Rukkus of Planet Megaman)
-art of fan-created character Tess (MMX-style), which can be found here http://planet-megaman.com/gallery/albums/u..._skemtess01.jpg
-title screen for the Mega Man US cartoon show
-wallpapers from metroid2002.com for Meta-Ridley and Ridley
-a Metroid Zero Mission wallpaper with Samus, Imago larva, Mother Brain, Kraid, the 'Pushy Purple Worm', and Ridley
-the 'red glowing Ridley' wallpaper from the Metroid Zero Mission promotional site
-sprite of Ridley from Super Metroid (stretched to fill desktop)
-Ridley trophy, from Super Smash Brothers Melee
-a Ridley buddy icon from the MZM promo site, complete with flashing eyes, which I tiled onto my desktop just for the cool effect
-a mewtwo wallpaper from gamefreak.co.jp
-a 'got milk?' thingy starring pikachu with a white mustache (e-mail me if you want to it)
-some online store's picture of the pattern on a Red Sox blanket (an image which I subsequently downloaded and used as a wallpaper)

I change my desktop background irregularly, in case you're wondering.

[/EDIT]I like variety, so I change my desktop every once in a while. I've had my laptop for around seven months or so, and I've had three wallpapers for it.

The first one was a wallpaper that came with my Skies of Arcadia Dreamcast disk. If you put disk 1 in your computer, there are several wallpapers and images there! Here's a site with all of the wallpapers that come with the disk. The one that I used for several months is on the top row of "Official Skies of Arcadia/Eternal Arcadia Wallpapers", the second from the left (the sky scene with The Albatross flying towards what appears to be Pirate Island). I was inspired to use it because I had only recently obtained Skies of Arcadia Legends and was reexperiencing SoA all over again.

After I got bored of the SoA wallpaper, I went on a search and found some fan-made FF VII wallpaper on animewallpapers.com that was really cool-lookin'. Here's a link to the page. The wallpaper I used was on the top row, second from the left (Shinra, INC. building scene).

The one that I've used since early March or so I found on beautifulwallpapers.com. The site has a little too much cheesecake and beefcake on it, but there are some good desktop images there. The one I'm using from there is an Australian landscape that I actually have a decent link for.

So that's all, folks. Nice topic you have here.
Edit
One of the links was bad. And I mean really bad. On a side note, I'm too technophobic to do a proper desktop scan.

My background's one of two things. Generally, I use this one (cropped slightly as my resolution is 1280x1024): a desktop pic of the main character from a game I'm developping. Lately, in anticipation of the legendary Hitchiker's Guide movie, I've had a HHGG desktop picture.

As can be seen, I throughoutly detest desktop shortcuts. smile.gif

cheers man, I used the link and had a look. I didn't like a lot of it because I don't want wallpaper that shows just one final fantasy character, as I admire so many of them, thus I ended up going with a FF9 wallpaper from your link that shows practically all of the main FF9 characters. It's quite cool.

Well, I'm useless at anything involving... anything, so it may be slightly small, but, you'll get the idea.

So I had this sweet desktop earlier, but had I posted it I would have been warned. Seeing as that's probably not the best way to go, I went with a nice little shot of some random planet.

heart.gif I practically live off of that site. I used to have a background from there that had a drawing of a kid looking at a ring that said, "Why would you say forever?" and for a while I had the NPC she drew me, Trixie, as my LJ icon. And nowl, I have a picture of a fairy she drew as my Xanga icon...

Mine tends to change pretty often now. But it's usually an up-to-date screenshot from Endless Saga. Having a constant reminder of the progress I'm making keeps me very motivated.

Bare? Sure is, hasn't changed from last time. I don't use my desktop. It's the first thing I see, then I fire up the Windows Explorer and use that. The picture does have some subliminal advertising effect, though, and I often find myself dropping into MSVC to work on ES after booting up the PC. tongue.gif

Well here be my humble lil desktop. Nothing fancy really. Just a particular PA strip I continually find humorous.

Odd though. I have a hefty 80 gig hard drive, but I always seem to be scrounging for space. I wonder why that is...

Beware by the way, I use my resolution at it's highest. 1280 x 1024

that's what I have currently. I love desktopwallpapers.com, but my favorite ever has to be my Skies of Arcadia wallpaper that comes as a free download from the Dreamcast disc.
