I know when cecil is a paladin he can use magic, but i have never leveled him to the utmost max, are those 6 spells the only spells he gets, or does he get like cure 3 or anything?

cecil can never get the high level white magic spells in the game, which kinda sucks once you get to Zeromus.

If you're using an emulator there is a way to cheat and modify the spell slots to give cecil high level white magic (i.e. Cure 4, Life 2, Holy) as well as a few non-white magic spells (double meteo, MegaFlare, BlackHole, etc) If anyone's interested let me know and I'll post the codes up here.

I would personally dislike Cecil with high level magic anywho. He's too good of a physically attacker to actually use magic, but a Cure 2 with his Wisdom stat full does a decent amout of healing. Keep him with a few spells that help in desperate times of need. Besides, giving him Cure 3 or 4 would take away from his 2000-4000 HP damage he does per round late in the game.

OKay here is how the Code works. White Magic slots are preset in the game to open their preassigned spell at certain levels.  THe first slot in the Magic Menu is Slot 1, and they go Horizontally. So, right one from Slot one is Slot 2 and right two from Slot one is Slot 3. Down one from slot one is Slot 4, you should be able to figure out the slots from there.

Okay, now, the fun part.  The slot modification codes are:
7E1560xx  The xx determining the Spell.
The go From 60-77. 60 being Slot 1 and 77 being Slot 24.
So For example to alter slot 3. You'd input (assuming you're using the Zsnes) 7E1562xx. Follow?

Now for the list of White Magic.
this corresponds to the "xx" part of the code

Okay, that does it for the games attacks  O_O
I'm sure you can now see why I didn't want to hurry and post this trick.
*Note* Some of the Boss monsters' attacks may not appear as their names
*note* some attacks will not show up on menu, but will appear in battle.

And now, for an example
To put Cure 4 in Cecil's last slot (slot 24)
the code would be  7E157711

And that does it.
You can alter every character in the game's magic like this. There are also codes to modify Item slots for your party and the Fat Chocobo. But since I don't want to type them all I recommend going to GameFAQs to get them.

Have fun and experiment (it's a bit tedious but it's well worth it)

Hope that helps  :o

Whoa, forgot something.

Note- these Slot Codes are only for Cecil as a Paladin. Other Characters have different codes to modify their Slots
This may also interfere with their natural Spell learning abilities, so be warned.
