Playing through Tactics again, I realize how incredible that soundtrack really is. I unfortunately don't know the names of specific songs, but en general FFT would dominate my top picks.

My number 1 favourite would definitely be the music for FFT, in the Underground Book Storage battle, where you fight Izlude. "Under the Stars" i think it was called... may be mistaken... i also like the Lucavi music (the one that plays whenever an enemy takes the form of Lucavi form a Zodiac Stone. The Figaro Castle music is nice too thumbup.gif

4.(Forgot WHat it was called the song that plays when Zidane and Blank are doing the swordfight at the beginning of Disc 1, Quote me with what the name is if anyone knows it!)

That would be Vamo Alla Flamenco, IIRC. Which is a very awesome song. happy.gif

My list, in no particular order:
FFX - Path of Repentance (Piano Collections)
FFVI - Terra's Theme
FFVI - Celes
FFX - Suteki Da Ne (Piano Collections)
FFX-2 - 1000 Words (Piano Version and Piano Collections version - although the original mix is cool too)
FFVI - Dancing Mad
FFVII - One Winged Angel
FFVIII - Liberi Fatali
FFVI - The Decisive Battle
FFVI - Spinach Rag (Piano Collections - this song is a coronary in a box)
FFVIII - Eyes On Me
FFV - Clash on the Big Bridge (especially the Black Mages version. Rawr.)
CT - Lucca's Theme
CT - Frog's Theme
FFX - To Zanarkand
FFX-2 - Eternity - Memory of Lightwaves
FFX-2 - Epilogue: Reunion (Piano Collections)
FFIV - Dancing Calbrena
FFIV - Rydia
And finally, that song in FFV that plays whenever really weird things happen - it's the equivalent to the song that plays at Gau's crazy father's house in FFVI. I think it's called "What?" but I'm not entirely sure.

Phew. I think that's enough for now. =Þ

Yeah that one for me too. I don't know song titles all that much and I don't have my headphones with me (college computers).

Here goes somethin':

#1 FF7 - World Map theme.
#2 FFX - Mushroom Rock Road.
#3 FF9 - Memoria
#4 FFX - Road to Zanarkand (if that's the one playing at the ruins)
#5 FF7 - Inside North Cave.
#6 FFX2- Opening credits, and as rendered by the musicians that play in Guadosalom at Mission Complete.
#7 FF6 - WoR
#8 FF5 - The song that plays while riding airship + loading game.
#9 FFX - Macalania Forest / Inside Mt. Gagazet.
#10FF7 - Sephiroth theme.
#11FF7 - Cosmo Canyon.
#12FF7 - Song when you

break out of the cell in the Shinra building.
#13FFX - Hymn of the Faith.
#14FF5 - The mountain song (same as FF6's Mt. Zoso).
#15FF4 - Underground world-map (Rally ho!)

These songs I leave the game running for while just hanging out in my room. Cool music = cool feelings. cool.gif

I've really only played the early FFs, but...

For FFIV
Rydia's Theme
Melody of Lute
Palom and Porom's Theme

For FFVI
Aria Di Mezzo Carattere
Spinich Rag
Edgar & Sabin's Theme
Kefka's Theme
Save them!
The Returners Theme

For CT
Schala's Theme
Robo's Theme
The Title Theme
Enhasa
Spekio's Theme

And finaly, from FFCC... Even though Crystal Chronicles was a pretty sad excuse for a FF, I loved their opening theme. I actualy went and started a new game at least 10 times just to hear it.

Black mages´ version of Crash at the big bridge
the ending from Chrono trigger

I'll have a hard time stating all my favourite music from FF, seeing that I listen to a lot and like most of it. That being said, I have course have some all-time favourites (not in order, as I like these songs for different reasons) :

The Phantom Forest (FFVI, any version) : the FFVI OST was my very first CD, and every time I listened to it, this one was always repeated. The two orchestrated versions are excellent too.

Vamo alla flamenco (FFIX, Piano Version and 20020220) : one of Uematsu's best piece, imo. The piano is an excellent transposition, but the concert version is simply amazing (check out the length of the applaude at the end : I've never seen anything like this in a classical music concert).

Mystery Train (FFVI, OST and Grand Finale vcersions) : while the original version has a strength of its own, the mad violin in Grand Finale is edxcellent.

Characters themes in FFVI (any version) : one of the greatest strength of FFVI was its character uniqueness, reflected by the fact that they all had a unique music theme. Each theme was good imo, and some of them were great.

FFT OST (all of it!) : no game can compare itself to the themes of FFT in terms of martial and battle music. The choices made for each story battles is simply perfect, and the random battles can choose from a very great set of music.

Celtic Moon album (FFIV): an incredible achievement, and the beginning of the pinacle of Uematsu's art. Every theme was adapted in an incredible way, with a dominance of certain instruments fitting to the name of the album. Special awards go to Troian Beauty, Mystic Mysidia, Into Darkness, Illusionary World and Palom&Porom.

Dancing Mad (FFVI, OST and Grand Finale) : another of Uematsu's greatest pieces. While the OST is perfect for the final battle, the Grand Finale version is really appreciated outside of the game (my father, who almost only listen to classical music, found it excellent).

One Winged Angel (FFVII, any version) : once more, one of Uematsu's greatest pieces (he really gets to kick our asses with final battles' themes). The full orchestrated versions are incredible (one of my biggest wishes is to be able to hear them in a concert hall...), but I must say that Shiro Hamaguchi's adaptation for 'Piano Collection' is one of the biggest surprises of this album.

Descendent of Shinobi (FFVII, Piano Collection) : this one lifts my heart every time I hear it. The rythm is so skippy that I actually smile when listening to it.

Music Box (FFV, Piano Collection and Dear Friends versions) : very simple theme, but so nice to listen to.

My Home Sweet Home (FFV, Dear Friends) : a voiced version, singed really softly in english (couldn't find who sang it).

Tenderness in the air (FFV, Dear Friends) : I can't say why, but this one really sooth me down.

Cosmo Canyon (FFVII, OST version) : on of the geatest piece of FFVII. Its adaptation in the sequence with Red XIII and Seto is simply moving.

The Black Mages album (various FFs) : I still can't believe how this album was created. Uematsu showed that he ahd a real opened mind about his work. Anyway, some of the adaptation are better than other, but overall this album is a good surprise.

To Zanarkand (FFX, any version) : a piece really fitting to the atmosphere of the game, and a great piano work.

And finally, ending with an original note...

Mambo de Chocobo (FFV, FF MIX version) : if you never liked the Chocobo theme, this version will change your mind (unless of course if you're impervious to mambo...).

Argh, there are so many more I would like to add.
Anyway, this a good overview of my favourite pieces. Obviously, being an old timer, I prefer the earlier musics, but some of the latter games had excellent pieces. For example, FFVIII, while I never had the courage to go at it again after my failed attempt to get past the disgusting battle system, strike me whith having good themes (I only heard the rearranged albums, so I wouldn't know about the quality of the whole soundtrack).

I love mostly ALL of them...
But here are my most favorites:

FF1:RandomBattle, Fiend Boss battle (like when you fight Tiamat or something), Airship Theme, and that music that plays after the king of cornelia builds a bridge and you go there for 1st time.

FF2: World Map, Super Boss, and the battle with the final form of the Emperor.

FF4: Town music, Boss battle, random battle, and World Map.

FF5: World Map 3, Town music (The one on the first city in the game),
and X-Death's theme (Sounds nice)

FF7:Boss theme, Jenova(1st one), Random Battle, Cid's theme, Birth of a God, Ending theme, and Aerith's theme.

FF6:Ending Theme, Locke,Celes, Figaro Castle, Town music(before wor),
That music at the opera Celes sings, and Cyan's theme.

FF8:That music when you escape Dollet in disc 1 earlier, Boss, and Eyes on Me. But I think E.O.M. was original music.

FF9: Final Battle and Vivi's theme in Alexandria in the beginning.

FFT: Zodiac battle, Delita, and ending theme.

CT: The Cathedral in the entrance area, that music that plays when Lucca busts Crono out of jail, and battle theme.

1. FF9- Melodies of Life
2. Vamo ala Flamencio
3. FF9's Chocobo theme
4. FF10's chocobo theme
5. That tune that plays when Tidus arrives at Besaid in FF10 and meets Wakka.

These are mine. I also like the run theme from FF9 and pretty much all of the rest of FF9's soundtrach as well as much of FFT's.

One winged Angel
Magus's Theme
You Are Not Alone
Those Chosen By The Planet
Cosmo Canyon
Kefka
One Winged Angel
Chocobo Theme, (doesn't matter which game, they're all practiacally the same, usually just with different instruments. And I wouldn't have it any other way smile.gif)
FF1 battle theme
The Decisive Battle
The Extreme
Kuja's Theme (forgot the name)
Timescar
One winged Angel

This is just off the top of my head. Oh, and did I mention One Winged Angel?

Eh

I've been meaning to get an ultimate list up Starting With 1

1,2- Nothing really comes to mind. Maybe the Sarda cave theme?
3- I loved the underwater world theme. When you came off the floating continent
4- Golbeze theme, Dwarf castle, Upper world, UnderWorld, Summoned Monsters, and my favorite- Mysidia's theme.
5- I haven't played recently. Though the sheep herder town theme was alright as i recall.
6- All the character themes, Dancing Mad, Mystic Forest, WoB theme.
7- Vincents theme, Cosmo Canyon theme, One winged angle

Thats the last game where anything struck me as terribly great.
I disagree with 8 having anything good,
nothing stood out for me in 9.
Didn't play alot of 10

Hmm. I like the original FFI overworld theme, One Winged Angel, Real Emotion, almost all the music from FFIX, The Highwind airship theme from FF7, and maybe Terra's theme from FFVI.

You should've seen your Face!! anyways, I like The Prelude To all The Old Final Fantasys! Also I had a thing for the To Zanarkand Song, and The Song they play when Sin is attacking Zanarkand.
