I'm from the North Country.

Did you know the Sepharvites were a tribe, mentioned in 2 Kings 17:31, whom continued to burn their children to their pagan gods?

... I'd say they got a big fat Omnislash to the face from a spiky-haired warrior once upon a time.

Discuss.

Well, I know FFX draws heavy inspiration from religious texts, especially Hinduism. I remember stumbling across a blog post about how the summons in FFX are similar to avatars in Hinduism. This was years ago though. If I can find the blog I will post a link here.

So, it wouldn't surprise me that Sephiroth's name might be in reference to something of a religious sort. Maybe somebody here knows more

I've been told that the name Sephiroth is related to attributes or vessels representing aspects of God in Jewish mysticism called the Sefirot. Is that what you meant by a reference to something religious?

Sephirot is a primal from FFXIV. That wiki page has the etymology of the name, which is indeed from Hebrew.
