Cyan's Theme reflects the man himself, with a driven tympani line and a heroic melody punctuated with the jingle of bells. Again befitting the character, it has an air of a never-ending quest, in this case his own salvation after loss. In the last competition, Cyan was a six seed, winning two rounds' matchups before falling to Celes' Theme.
The Red Wings won a first round matchup last time out, defeating Otherworld from Final Fantasy X before falling to Jenova. It's the first music heard as the player starts up Final Fantasy IV for the first time, and makes an immediate impression with its drumbeats of war, creating an immediate tension between the mission Cecil undertakes and his own personal feelings. Love both of these, but there's something about the Red Wings theme that just pumps me up and it's a great start to the game (as well as in the final dungeon).

Before I got into RPGs, I used to watch my brother play 4 and 6. I didn't know much about min/maxing then, but back when I thought Cyan was a great character a lot of that came from this song alone.
Red Wings is great, but the story of Cyan fits too well with the song. -------------------- And have you found your joy, in this near dead world of ours? |

That stoic piece for Cyan is incredibly fitting, as Gabe said.
Working through that game again, I've been reminded just how tragic things were for the poor guy and that he just does his best to keep it all together. -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Quote (Gabe @ 9th November 2017 16:45) Red Wings is great, but the story of Cyan fits too well with the song. This. Red Wings is an iconic character theme and the distinctive five bars of 7/4 with half-diminished chords are really memorable. But Cyan's theme manages to capture multiple sides of his personality, unlike Red Wings with Cecil, and is also equally if not more iconic. It's a very thoughtful theme, with both a stern side and a softer side with a hint of resignation. People say that Cyan's character is bad gameplay-wise, but I can't hate him with this character theme (and his backstory of course). -------------------- current games (2024-02-19): Fairy Fencer F ADF Pokémon Perfect Crystal finished so far this year: Gato Roboto drowning, drowning New Super Mario Bros.
