I've been playing Chrono Trigger again, and I can't for the life of me beat Spekkio. I'm not very far through the game, so I've only faced his first and second form, but they both annihilate me. Anyone got any strategies?

I'd take a dedicated healer (or two) and the rest should be the characters that have the best magical attack at the time.

It also helps if you are at the maximum level of that particular form.

To fight the first form of Spekkio level up to 9 (such as Dark Paladin said) and have Marle and Lucca along with Crono. Use your strongest spells (any double techs as well that are magical) and heal when needed with Marle. You should receive 1 Magic Tab

To fight the second form of Spekkio level up to 19 and use the same strategy as above. You'll receive 1 Magic Tab and 5 Ethers.

By the way, if you level up to 99 and fight Spekkio you'll meet my avatar. biggrin.gif

Also, if you manage to beat him at level 99, you get a bunch of power and magic tabs, and I think some megaethers.

I know, I used a gameshark code to beat him. tongue.gif But I'm sure you don't want to cheat so... I'll just shut up.

To me beating Spekkio was more luck then skill, especially in the higher levels.

Psshh. By the time I got to the uber-high levels he wudn't so tough for me. happy.gif In the interim, it all just came down to how the battle turned out, to whomsoever was the better man that day. Most of the time, it was me. n.n

My strategy was basically the same as suggested here: Hit hard and hit fast, and don't let up on those healing spells and potions, girl! =D

at the ** level (the pink nu) it seems to be almost ALL about luck -- by that time all you're doing is throwing your most powerful spells at him anyway, and dependant on what skills he uses, you either survive or dont.

At Lv **, you just have to pray he throws whatever spell your armor is resistant against first.

Spekkio v4 (Omnicrone) was the one that was mostly about luck for me. It always ends up with me hoping that he matches the mail of the last character standing.

By the time I got to Spekkio v6 (Nu) I had lots of MegaElixirs to burn. His pattern is
Level 3 Spell (Dark Matter, Flare, Luminaire)
Hallation
repeat.

Just use a MegaElixir after Hallation. If you're at L**, Dark Matter and Flare shouldn't hurt too much. All that's left is to Revive anyone who's been killed by Luminaire, depending on your armor. If you have Moon Armors, Nova Armors, and Prism Dresses, you shouldn't have to use Revives at all.

I found that at level ** beating Spekkio wasn't all too difficult if you used Crono, Marle, and Robo. That way you can use the Triple Tech "Lifeline" (which is similar to Life3 in FFVI, except that it casts it on all members). Also make sure to cast Haste on every character, and the Robo/Marle Double Tech "Heal Touch" works very well.

Basically you heal with Marle and Robo, cast Haste with Marle at any convenient time, use Luminaire with Crono, and use Megalixirs when necessary (You receive 10 Megalixirs after defeating him I think, so don't worry about wasting them).

the higher levels you get to the easier he gets, when your characters are level 60 and above they'll have no problem beating him
as fotr the other forms the earlier ones i actually found to be the hardet
