So today I decided to get the free trial for old AOL Desktop Gold. What I have found so far is so disappointing.

Numerous old features like the buddy list and instant messaging gone. Forums, gone. Chat rooms are still there but shows the average age of the person one of the most packed rooms is, 'Sixties Plus Love'

I went on the Help responses site for AOL Gold and all you see if people complaining about getting the old features back. This version has less features then AOL 2.5. It reminds me of AOL's version of Compuserve back in 2000. Its pretty bad. Such a shame

The internet moved past AOL at least 15 years ago. There is literally nothing that AOL can offer that can't be done better elsewhere. That probably explains why the average age of the users is so high; I can't imagine why anyone under 60 would be enthusiastic about the idea.

Its pretty sad because as I am on there I remember how glorious America Online used to be. Besides all the problems with America Online censoring people and literally kicking people off the internet and AOL STAFF actually listening to 15 year old message board moderators on offsite message boards to punish people who disobeyed rules at GGCCC and GSCCC the forums of AOL were pretty deep.

Now the place doesn't even have a graveyard of former sites anymore.
