I'm playing through the great Final Fantasy 9 again. I would be interested in seeing the secret ending. Could anyone tell me how to go about doing this? And also, do you think it's worth it? thumbup.gif

To see the secret scene you need to obtain the hammer and keep it in your possion til the end of the game. To get the hammer you need to get all thirteen Stellazzio.

The 13th one is in Quan's Dwelling where you found Scorpio

Hmm..I thought you got a different ending if you beat the game in 13 hours or whenever and got Excalibur 2.

The clouds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

The secret ending isn't a huge change from the original, you just see some extra scenes with the Tartarus gang in addition to the normal ending scenes (which rule, btw). And zutto's right about the stellazzio.

The idea is after you collect all twelve Stellazzios and the Robe of Lords from the duck-lady, you need to figure out the story from their descriptions and find out which stellazzio character Virgo kissed. Because the story description says that Virgo found her lover by the setting sun (or something, it's been a long time since I've done this), you find Opichurus in Quan's dwelling north of Treno. On a side note, they picked Opichurus as the final stellazzio because it's a tiny constellation that's on the ecliptic with the other Zodiac constellations, but not on the same ancient ecliptic that the Greeks devised the constellations on. So basically, it's a modern Zodiac but not an ancient Zodiac.

Edit
The Excalibur II is not a different ending, it's just an uber-sword for Steiner. You need to find it on one of the columns in Pandemonium on Disk 4 before you hit twelve hours on the game clock.

I wouldn't call it much of an alternate ending like most people like to. It's "alternate" along the same lines as FFVI's - that is, just longer or shorter depending on who/what you get. Not like FFV's or Chrono Trigger's, which have real alternate/different endings.

Anyways, I've heard in the past that getting the Save the Queen sword from the "legendary synthesis shop" after defeating Hades in Memoria will also allow you to see the hidden scene. I've never actually bought it (since I spend more time selling my stuff than synth-ing it), so it may just be rumor.

And basically what laszlow said; it just adds an extra (yet interesting) scene to the play during the ending.

It sounds like it is worth it.
But it does sound very complicated, perhaps I'll have to get a guide to help me... doesn't really appeal.

Is it easy to miss a point in the game where certain items are needed, thus meaning you can not go back for them and can not get the ending because of this?

^No. Useless you did what I did, and sold one of the needed items. *cough* hammer. I've seen the ending already though...although it wasn't worth it. ;x
Ya, you might need a guide to find all of the coins. I know where a few of them are.

No, you have to beat the game in twelve hours, and you don't get any sort of special ending what so ever. Thats why I just use a gameshark everytime I want a new Excalibur II ;X (sometimes I throw them with Amarant.)

I've played through FF IX four times or so. The first time I didn't get the hammer or the Legendary Synthesis shop, the second time I found the Stellazzio and got the hammer but used it to get the Tin Armor, and the third time I heard about the secret ending and took all the necessary steps to get it. IMO, the awesomeness of the Tin Armor is better than any secret ending.

I wouldn't really recommend it..

It's just a small scene where Blank gets killed by the King. Boring..

Next time I'll just get Tin Armor.. Only if I have Steiner as one of my most highest-trained characters though... If only Zidane could use armors and helmets like Locke did..

I always use the hammer for Steiner's Tin Armor. The best armor for the rusty, old knight.

Steiner is so cool! I love his 'Charge!' ability. I used it to beat the last boss when I was close to death.

Where's the Legendary Synthesis shop? Do you have to do the chocobo thing? dry.gif

Like it was said, the hammer is needed for trigger a "hidden" scene. If you didn't see it, what are you waiting?..just for this time save that hammer. Then do the Tin Armor.. thumbup.gif

Is in Memoria the final dungeon, in the very place you defeated Kraken..search carefully, and you eventually fight Ha Des , He can be a problem if you let him finish his countdown...after defeating him., he wil help you, and if you defeated Ozma first, he would be impressed thumbup.gif
