I know we've had many topics on the subject and similar. I'd like to sum it up into less.
How likely are you to do these things. 1. Beat the game at a lower level? 2. Will you try it at the lowest level possible? 3. Will you beat it as quickly as possible? 4. Will you take your time beating it at a lower level? 5. Will you combined any of the four prior rules? 6. Will you attempt it with one character? 7. Will you attempt it with fewest characters possible? 8. Will you try to get all the playable characters? 9. Will you combined any of the prior eight rules? 10.. Can you do it without emulating, cheating, and/or hacking? My response. 1. Yes. 2. Almost 3. Yes 4. Yes 5. Maybe 6. Yes 7. Yes 8. Yes 9.Maybe 10. Yeah --- The point of this topic is to figure out how dedicated you are about games. Sure you can try them quickly though some of us want precision over speed. In my case I don't mind fast games though I'd prefer to be correct and accurate about them. I don't mind taking a little longer to do it right. It doesn't matter how the game is built as long as it remains beatable. Quote I've done this for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.1. Beat the game at a lower level? 2. Will you try it at the lowest level possible? 4. Will you take your time beating it at a lower level? Quote I've speedrun or done speedrun routing for some games. Super Metroid, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, and a little game called Shrubnaut.3. Will you it as quick as possible? Quote On the topic of low% runs specifically, no, but I've gotten into some low%-like situations when playing randomizers.7. Will you attempt it with fewest possible? Quote Have done this in FFVI. Also got all the classes in FFV.8. Will you try to get all the playable characters? More generally, I do tend to aim for best endings and 100% collection in metroidvanias that have them. Longer games like JRPGs are less amenable to replay though. Quote I've returned to a number of games that I've previously beaten only with the help of savestates, and beaten them without. Some are done (e.g. Mega Man X2) while others I haven't succeeded at yet (e.g. Super Castlevania IV, though this was more so because I was boring the friends who were hanging out with me so I stopped playing). 10.. Can you do it without emulating, cheatings, and/or hacking? 1. Beat the game at a lower level? On subsequent playthroughs, I often hurry through the early content of a game, but once the game opens up and let’s me get all the special side quests and treasures, I no longer care enough about the extra challenge to worry about it.
2. Will you try it at the lowest level possible? Nope. 3. Will you it as quick as possible? I enjoy munchkin-ing too much to ever do this. 4. Will you take your time beating it at a lower level? Nope. 5. Will you combined any of the four prior rules? Nope. 6. Will you attempt it with one character? Nope. 7. Will you attempt it with fewest possible? Nope. 8. Will you try to get all the playable characters? Always. 9. Will you combined any of the prior eight rules here? Not really. 10. Can you do it without emulating, cheatings, and/or hacking? Sure. |

I like to complete all the sidequests and get all the playable characters, but I don't care about beating games at a low level. I like getting to a high level, it feels more like I'm completing the game. I know I don't need to, it's just how I play.
