My favorite party:
Black Belt/Master Red Mage/Red Wizard White Mage/White Wizard Warrior/Knight I used the Red and White Mages because I prefer to have more healing magic than damaging magic. Not to say some of the White Spells aren't damaging, especially to the undead, but I didn't feel like I needed a Black Wizard. It's working well for me. I haven't gotten very far in the game. Soccer takes a big chunk out of my FF playing time. This post has been edited by Mellow on 16th August 2004 01:58 -------------------- Life is one big road with lots of signs. My favorite party is:
Fighter - The Tank. Fighter - See Above. Black Mage - Nuker, all around bad-ass. White Mage - Healer. Currently, I'm playing it with an all White Mage party for some added difficulty. I kick the crap out of any and all Undead, but the rest are a bit of a struggle until I get Fade. When I feel like blowing through the game, though, I just pack my party with four Fighters and let them destroy everything. They're so ridiculously strong when equipped well. However, I never use Black Belt and rarely use Thief. In my opinion, they are awful characters that just aren't as effective as the others. This isn't true for the Red Mage, however, since he's so versatile. This post has been edited by TheEvilEye on 16th August 2004 03:34 |

A good all-around party I used was a Fighter, Black Belt, White Mage, and Black Mage. It worked well for attacking all types, as well as healing. But I also like using a party of the four "attacker" types (if you want to call a red mage an attacker) -- It has decent healing, and not much will get more than two rounds against you.

I like Fighter,BlackBelt,BlackMage,Whitemage. It works well for me. I get some offense, some defense and a healer.

The party that worked best for me and the one I used most often was:
2 Fighters, 1 Black Mage, and one Red Mage. They were an offensive juggernaut. Who needs healing when the enemy's dropped in two rounds, anyway? -------------------- ~Status Report~ * Completed... The easiest party to get through the game, from start to finish, is:
Fighter/Knight Fighter/Knight Black Mage/Black Wizard White Mage/White Wizard My personal favorite is: Fighter/Knight Blackbelt/Master Thief/Ninja Red Mage/Red Wizard -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

2 Fighters and 2 Black Belts means money isn't a big issue, and that's something we can all appreciate, especially in this game.

im down with the three fighters and a black mage. if you dont mind having to stop to save up money to buy ridiculously expensive stuff (steel armor, L6+ spells), then this party is unstoppable. a little light on the healing, but if you put the black mage at the bottom, you dont have to worry about it, the other 3 will absorb the hits real well.

Fighter/Knight
Bl.Belt/Master Thief/Ninja Bl.Mage/Bl.Wiz It's not the greatest team when you start out, and healing is a small issue. But if you can manage to tolerate them until the ascension, it becomes a massively awesome party. The hard hitter doubles as a healer, Master gets in a ton of shots, Ninja gets nice weapons, good damage, and can use black magic, and of course, Bl. Wiz has some hard hitting magic. -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! I still have the scars on my chest. I am the manliest man that ever did man. The first time I played, I used
Knight Master Black Wizard White Wizard It's a good beginner party, though the black wizard is pretty useless. I'd replace him with anyone, probably a Ninja -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

I always go with a Warrior/Knight, Monk/Master, White Mage/White Wizard, and Black Mage/Black Wizard.
Nothing beats an Excalibur-powered Knight, Haste-powered Master, Masamune-powered White Wizard, and Flare-casting Black Mage. Complete and utter destruction. |

Warrior/Knight
Black Mage/Black Wizard White Mage/White Wizard Red Mage/Red Wizard The Warrior/Knight is my major attacker, the Black Mage/Black Wizard owns just about everything with high level spells, the White Mage/White Wizard heals whenever needed, and the Red Mage/Red Wizard uses Black magic and sometimes physical attacks for damage, and is also a secondary healer. -------------------- Let's see you figure out the truth of this quote...dun dun dun. I tend to go with one of two: Fighter/Knight, Thief/Ninja, Black Mage/Black Wizard, White Mage/White Wizard; or Fighter/Knight, Black Belt/Master, Black Mage/Black Wizard, White Mage/White Wizard.

I use... uh... fighter, thief, black mage and white mage. Nice rounded out party, makes me fight lots of battles to get money, and also level up, so there are some plusses.

Like a lot of people here I used:
Fighter Thief White Mage Black Mage my first time and loved it. Next I'll do: Fighter Monk Red Mage White Mage so that I'll have used all possible classes. Overall, I'm not pleased with magic in FF1, and I saw on an FF1-exclusive site that Fighter x 3 Red Mage is the best offensive (yet expensive) team, and maybe I'll try that some time. You can always make the other back two characters live on the hand-me-downs of the 1rst two. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

Black Mage, Fighter, Thief, Red Mage. BM for the stabbity death and powerful magery, Fighter for physical, Thief just for need of a klepto, and Red Mage for universal assault...
Not to mention I'm an 8-Bit fanatic... Of course, I also use these teams: 4x Black Belt (WHo needs magic when everything on the field is dead in 1 turn?) 4x Red Mage (This'ns expensive as hell, but worth it) 3x White Mage, 1x Black (BM's dream!) The fastest I ever got through the game was with:
Fighter Black Belt Black Belt White Mage So I guess that's my best party. The fighter takes it, the black belts kill everything, and the whitey keeps the team alive. It's not overly expensive either. I'll also agree with the Black Belt x3, and white mage. That is a power house, but I died a couple of times before the black belts got strong enought to 1 hit kill everything. I love the thief but he is absolutely useless unless you want to make the game harder for yourself. Same deal with the redmage, who doesn't excell at anything; late game he's not a great attacker, and his magic isn't strong enough. Any party with more than 1 fighter is bad. There's only enough armor in the game to make 1 knight feasable. You don't need two tanks plus black belts do more damage than knights anyway. -------------------- -I like you- ...probably. |

Mellow and Gbrugy have my favorite
Knight BB RW WW Its just such an invinicble combo and its always effective. You ALWAYS need a Knight, BB always come in handy, Red Wizards can use very effective White and Black magic, and White Wizard do a damn good job of healing, and it holds true throught the game. In addition, u got 3 good attackers -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. My favorite so far was
Fighter Blackbelt Thief Red Mage discovered late in the game (duh) that blackbelt is better without weapons, I thought he was useless with his iron nunchucks, I removed them in the temple of fiends (revisited) and he did more damage than my knight every time(14 hits compared to 8), so I started another game... Blackbelt Blackbelt White Mage Black Mage a bit difficult early on, but around the earth cave they start owning and they don't cost a whole lot. -------------------- I'm the root of all that's evil yeah, but you can call me cookie. -BHG FF3DS friend code: 4424-8076-6097 |
