It is our great pleasure to announce the release of Caves of Narshe's comprehensive Final Fantasy 9 section. The development process was a bit elongated, as is our style, but not as much as some of our other additions have been! That counts for something, right?
Our most recent "new" coverage, as some may recall, was the the fully-remade FFVI section in 2013 (and before that, the fully-remade FFV section in 2012). This means that FFIX marks the first time in quite a while that we've expanded site coverage into new ground - something which made the development process really exciting. There were a bit fewer hands on deck this time around, but those of us involved came away with renewed appreciation for the game. As with every guide we produce, we aimed to deliver not just complete coverage but the best coverage anywhere. We're confident you'll agree that we've achieved that here. As always, the essential first step is an excellent walkthrough, written by longtime member Shotgunnova with thoroughness and character (and edited by EvilEye and myself with equal amounts of the same!) that make it a pleasure to read. The next step is to augment that foundation with additional written, image, and video content provided by Neal and Rangers51. And finally, we enrich it all with our usual HTML touches that make for easy-to-read tables and site organization, comprehensive links that make navigating content references easy and instant, and other useful tools (check out that chocobo map) that improve clarity and ease of use with flair. Whether you're looking for a tip on a pesky boss battle, information about that sidequest was just discovered a few years ago, a laugh about how silly Tetra Master was, or or a guide to accompany you on your first playthrough, we've got you covered for every release this game has ever had, including the newest version released for mobile and Steam! Final Fantasy IX is a game that has proven it can stick around - something that CoN and its members are particularly qualified to appreciate. One has several different audiences in mind when making something like this, but the first is, as always, the people who will see this post: site members, old friends, facebook followers, and persistent lurkers. We're all active in different ways now, but it's your continued support - in posts, in traffic, in "likes" - that keep new content coming. We hope you'll take a couple minutes to explore this section, talk about it, send it to a friend, or maybe even revisit FFIX itself. |

FF9 is wonderful and this section is wonderful. I did very little on this - kudos to those of you who really put the time and love into the section that CoN and FF9 deserve!

Yay!!! Maybe now I'll actually get around to playing this game since everyone raves about it. Congratulations CoN and a special thanks to those of you who did the really hard work (not me)!

FINALLY!
I haven't received a CoN email in a long time, and this was great news for it. The quality of your guides was the thing that first brought me here. I loved playing through FFIX with no guide but there was a lot I missed. So thanks guys! -------------------- |

Congratulations on the new section! I played FFIX for the first time earlier this year, and I loved it. I know I missed a lot, though, so I'm looking forward to making use of the guide when I play it again.

I've been using Foolsglade for so long that the way I know I'm not logged in is when CoN looks I'm probably the only person in the world who's using it, but whatever. Incidentally, I remember someone noticing that there were placeholder "sections" for various other games once...I forget how to edit the URL to make those but now I'm wondering if there are Foolsglade skins for those games... -------------------- current games (2024-02-19): Fairy Fencer F ADF Pokémon Perfect Crystal finished so far this year: Gato Roboto drowning, drowning New Super Mario Bros. Congratulations CoN and a special thanks to those of you who did the really hard work (not me)! I picked up the Steam version specifically to test our guides and collect information for this section, and I really enjoyed the upgrades they made, for what it's worth. I do think the mobile-friendly UI isn't great for a game you can play at larger resolutions, but it's manageable. I suggest keeping an eye out for the next Steam sale, because it's a great buy at $10-15 even if you've played it before. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Nice to see that this site is not only still alive, but is still regularly producing new content.
Thank you guys for being the best resource for classic Final Fantasy. Also, it's been 10 years since I last posted on here, so this site must be nearly 20 years old now... |

Nicely done, CoN Crew. And knowing how comprehensive and attentive to detail everyone is, I know you happened to include long lost Nero Family quest in the official CoN walkthrough (right?)
Glad the site is still expanding and finally included the (tied-for) 3rd best title in the FF family. |

Quote (Sabin @ 15th September 2016 17:53) Glad the site is still expanding and finally included the (tied-for) 3rd best title in the FF family. I go back and forth between FFVII and FFIX being number two on my list, so I guess it's tied for the second spot. What's your top four then (sorry, just curious)? The part I find hard in going between VII and IX is that there was a bit of a lull in IX in the middle of the game where the story kind of lost steam. For me, though, it unquestionably has my favorite opening and ending. There are many things I like about it more than VII, but for VII it's more about the game in totality, as a single experience, if that makes sense. -------------------- |

It couldn't have come at a better time. I'm currently revisiting the older FFs that I haven't played in ten or so years and this one is on the list. Thanks for keeping it real all these years, guys. CoN has always been my favorite source for FF information. Glad to see things are still in order around here every time I stop in for something.
Out of curiosity, why was VIII skipped? Not popular enough? -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

Because no one likes FFVIII.
(At least memetically, it's the CoN staff's least favorite game.) Asking for an FFVIII section (or was it Shaq Fu?) may cause Climhazzard to blow your house up. I didn't know that FFVIII hate was still going around!
But anyways, if we got to choose the next game (not that we're trying to rush you or anything, wink wink) I'd like to see a FFX section. -------------------- |

aww. I just completed IX as completely as I'm ever going to. (Screw getting the jump rope or running mini game key items and screw getting the highest card rating) I did everything else besides those 3 things.
I personally like VIII although I do get why some people don't like parts of it. But I'd love to help out if a FF VIII section ever enters the works. I actually did a similar run for VIII here recently. I figured out a couple things including how to do the Queen of Cards side-quest easy.
