Hi, everyone - I wanted to let you know about some planned downtime for CoN tomorrow, June 22. This downtime will be to support a major software upgrade on the server in advance of further software upgrades that we have planned to keep the lights on around here.
The downtime is scheduled to begin at around 6am US Eastern time, and is open-ended; assuming we don't encounter any incompatibilities, it will be fairly short, but if we run into problems it could extend as we find and fix the causes. Thanks for letting us know! I just joined so I'm happy to see upkeep is still active on CoN. I was a forum Admin elsewhere for a brief time covering for a long-term Admin so I appreciate the work that goes into "keeping the lights on"!

This maintenance is complete and it seems to be more or less problem-free other than a couple small things that I'll fix over the course of today.
We're going to do another small maintenance tomorrow morning around 7am ET but it should be even less noticeable than today's. If you see any issues either after today's work, or after tomorrow's, please let me know either in this thread (if possible), or in Discord. Bumping this topic - the next phase of downtime will take place on August 7 starting at around 2am ET. This one could take up to four hours and is in service of the subsequent major upgrade mentioned in the OP.
Once that's done, there's cleanup work that needs to be done to fix some problems with character encoding both on the site and the forums, which you may have seen with weird characters showing up in guide content as well as difficulties in posting content in the forums that uses non-English characters. That will take place... as I feel like managing it. Edit We had to move this to August 12 due to a last-minute issue with software that needed to be uninstalled. Same timeline, just five days later now. Sigh, looks like this didn't fully work again today. I'll update this thread again once I understand more about what happened.

Thanks to everyone who's helped test the last couple weeks - we are ready for the next phase of this update at around 6am ET tomorrow, September 9. The site will likely be completely down for a little while as we do the transition.
