I'm having a hard time beating Giga Gaia. I'm following the walkthrough strategy of using Chrono, Ayla and Robo. Twister doesn't take down the hands in one hit, and Robo ends up dying before I can do a second Twister. If I level up some more, will Twister get stronger? Any other tips?

Giga Gaia is a CT staple in team fighting. The one hand is a healer, the other is an attacker, and the head is the main body. First, gear up against shadow and fire attacks, especially early on. Go after the defensive arm as fast as you can, often using dual-techs. My preference is Ayla, Crono, and Marle. Once the defensive arm is taken out, do not go after the attacking arm, just go straight for the head. Heal liberally at this point with one character and attack with the other two. The defense claw will eventually regenerate, in which case return to attacking that claw, and then return to attacking the head.

If Crono has the Confuse tech, I agree with Cheveclaire, use his Confuse attack and Marle and Ayla's Cube Toss on the healing arm, then waste him in the face with whatever the most powerful single target techs or attacks you have. Every time he revives the healing arm, beat it down again and go back to smacking him in the face. Keep your HP up too, don't be afraid to let a round go by without attacking if you need to heal.

Giga Gaia can be a pain if you're not properly leveled up. I think that's why the "respawning rubble" is in Mt. Woe. Normal rubbles run away and you don't get jack, but if you can manage to beat them, they give you buttloads of tech points.

If you just plain can't get by on the techs you have, find the respawning rubble on Mt Woe and grind for a while, then try again. It's a lame strategy but that's unfortunately how RPGs of the era seem to work.

Thanks for the replies. I think I was too impatient when I posted this, LOL. I ended up trying again after three more levels and this time I won. I still wasn't one-shotting the fists with Twister but I was able to survive and do a second Twister.

Now I'm on Death Peak, one of the few things I remember from my first play of the game. I successfully made it up the mountain after over 200 attempts, but missed the save point and died to the Lavos Spawn. So now I have to climb the mountain AGAIN, ugh.

Now I want to play Chrono Trigger. Time to don the fedora, bomber jacket, revolver and whip. I have some digging to do, anyone want to join me?

Congrats on beating Giga Gaia. GG is definitely the first really tough boss in Chrono Trigger -- a noticeable difficulty spike from what came before it.

Isn't that the wrong series? For some reason you're making me think of Koji Igarashi's Castlevania-themed cosplay mockups that happened when he doing his Bloodstained kickstarter campaign.

So I'm in Geno Dome, and try as I might, I cannot get the door opened to the room with the robot in it. I'm only staying in the charging chamber for a second and running as fast as I can, but it wears off a little bit before I reach the pod. I watched a video on YouTube and it looks like I'm doing it correctly, so I don't know what's going wrong. Anyone else struggle with this? I'm playing the DS version, if it matters.

That or Indiana Jones.

If it's the room I'm thinking of, did you make the conveyor belt go in the direction that it'll make you get there faster?

So I left Geno Dome for a while to do some of the sidequests, then came back to grind on the conveyor belt in the beginning of the dome. While I was there I thought I'd try opening that door again. To my shock, I actually managed to do it this time! I really didn't think I was going to be able to, because I had tried about a hundred times with no luck.

I finished the game a few days ago. Really enjoyed it.
