I'm starting up a new Final Fantasy 1 game (and having some difficulties doing it), and the name list for my party is:
• Zeph: Fighter • Hawk: Fighter • Soup: Thief • Neal: Black Belt In the past, I've used such names as Bill, Xael...others...most just wierd. o.O So, what names do you usually give to your party? -------------------- ~Status Report~ * Completed... I am so unoriginal. I usually use names of characters from other games. So a Black Mage might be named Vivi, a White Mage would be named Rosa, a Thief would be named Locke, and so on.

Usually I'd name them as friends, or at least have the main character be myself. But if ever I decide to play through FF1 (need an NES emu with fast forward, slooow battles!) I'll give them random names like Bogan and Alvin.

I name them based on job every playthrough. And the NES version has a 4-letter limit.

Heh...my first FFI party was one of my themed renamings, and it went like this...
BM : LI Fighter : GG RM : ZG WM : AWTS If I had FFO, I'd have just written it out, but the 4-letter limit plus my obsession with making things consistent equals initials of doom. -------------------- My soul is bound to the Mistress of the Afterlife, and my fealty is to her always. So let's just hope she doesn't use it as one of her ten daily meals. |

I commonly use a lot of my stock names in older RPG's. Such as: Evil (Silver Maduins of a feather?), Lars, Minerva, Athena, Olga, Meat, and I just make up names. Here's my last FF1 list.
Thief- Yomama Knight- Oklmno White Mage- Sexi Black Mage- Sezmy (There are jokes in three of those. Do you see them?) -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

As always, with the lack of default names you're forced to be a little creative. So, what noble names do you normally give the Light Warriors? Do you keep every name as a permanent title which you'll forever know that character as, or do you think up different ones with each new game? As for me...
Fighter (one of the only characters I'll ever use more than one of): Dude or Bob Red Mage: Bill White Mage: Heal, or depending on my setup, Bait Black Belt: Beef Thief: Blue (it's the hair) Black Mage (same as with Fighter): Hat or Pie How 'bout you? Well, back in the 8-bit days when a name could only be four letters long, it looked something like this for each character:
Fighter: Rage, Wolf Thief: Kai, Taka Black Belt: Lee, Poen, Fang Red Mage: Dire, Haze Black Mage: Blak, Nite, Kane White Mage: Snow, Bree, Heal God, this brings back memories! It depends on the version, since Origins allowed more than 4 measly letters to create a name.

I named all my characters with different versions of the word "Kan." There was Kan, Ank, Akn, Nak, and Kna.
 Lack of creativity. And plus, I grew out of the noble names. Except one, which I use quite frequently. Astruh. That name got started in a weird way. Astraphobia is the fear of lightning.
