Well, this is obviously a bit of screaming into the void here, but it's been all the rage in Discord for the last 24 hours or so. So, who here reading the forums has already grabbed Disney+, and if so, what are you watching first? I've only had time so far to watch half of The Rocketeer, one of my personal favorite Disney movies when I was a kid. I think next up might be the original Lion King, as my daughter has never seen the OG, or possibly Steamboat Willie just because it's Steamboat Willie.

I was also quite disappointed to find that they appear to only have the first season of "Rescue Rangers" at the moment.

Wife & I got it the first day, of course. Our first watch ended up being A Goofy Movie, because she had been looking for it for years hoping to watch it again. I saw it for the first time with her and it was actually pretty good, and Pauly Shore is weirdly amusing as a voice actor, even if he's really just being himself. Ah, the 90s.

Then we watched Wall-E, a film I hadn't seen before.

It is weird you haven't shown your daughter the Lion King, you must be trying to keep her from crying her eyes out and having to deal with it, sir!

It doesn't come out here until 31st March but we'll probably get it. I like the sound of the Marvel TV shows.

Her mom took her to the CGI remake a few months ago and they both got too sad and didn't stay for the whole thing. I think it will perform better with the animated version at home, which I'm sure is way better to boot.

Oh gracious! Glad you got to right that wrong! Such a fantastic film.

I've not gotten it yet. We've already got two subscriptions to other services and trying to rip through Amazon Prime series' and HBO series' we're interested in before we binge The Mandalorian (and other things as well!)

So everyone is feeling it's worth it?

The Mandalorian is worth at least the price of admission for a month or two on its own. One, maybe two of the episodes have felt a little filler-ish so far, but the overall plot is fantastic.

For me, I got it with the bundle that includes Hulu and ESPN+, and it's especially worth the money for that, IMO.

I got a Disney+ account the moment I learned about the a certain character in The Mandalorian. It's worth it just for that, I think, but my boyfriend has also been watching a lot of older episodes of The Simpsons, which is fun.

I'm not sure what else I want to see on it. I had hoped that Enter The Spideyverse would be on there, but it turns out that is owned by Sony. I don't like re-watching movies, so I'm not going to watch something I've already seen.

The Mandalorian is the only reason for Disney+ Basically with Kathleen Kennedy being declawed they were able to create a wonderful show.

I'm late to the party as usual, but I found my way to Disney+ just before WandaVision came out, and between it, the other Marvel tv shows, and The Mandalorian, I'm very glad to have it.

I haven't done much exploring though; what should I be watching?

Well, you already mention the Marvel shows, so there's probably not much reason to mention that "Loki" just started up last week. He's a much better character when he's an antihero who gets to be goofy a little, and so far that looks like what this show is doing as well as doing another lead-in to the next Doctor Strange.

I've been watching the Clone Wars spinoff "The Bad Batch," as it's currently airing, and it's pretty decent. It's not as good as the best parts of Clone Wars but it's probably as good as the final Disney+ season.

Other than that, I've shown my daughter a few of the underrated Disney animation movies from the 90s recently; she eventually grew to really like "Hercules" but "Emperor's New Groove" - my personal favorite - hasn't grabbed her yet.

Edit
I also started watching "Oklahoma" the other night! I was pleased to find that on there, but it's soooooo long. And of course if you haven't watched the original cast of "Hamilton," that's a must-watch.

I've definitely devoured the available Loki episodes, and you're 100% correct that Loki shines brightest in that affable-and-antiheroic-but-not-genocidal place that he's done so well since leaving the original Avengers film behind.

I'll be sure to give Bad Batch a looksee.

The Marvel shows, obviously, and of course all those sweet Disney shows from the late 80's that I grew up on. A little bummed that I can't show my girls Gummy Bears, but Talespin, Rescue Rangers, OG Ducktales, and Darkwing Duck are a nice rotation to get into on weekends. I try to give em the classic Saturday morning experience, since kids don't know anything about that anymore.

I'm looking forward to the second season of Loki and Falcon and Winter Soldier, as they seemed very short (probably because 2020 was a nightmare to film around).

I was just mentioning in Discord, but a huge highlight of D+ is the ability to watch Gravity Falls. The two seasons of that show were spread out over a few years, and their network scheduling often changed, so it was really hard to catch up if you missed out early. Being able to watch the whole thing in sequence is great, because it is a really fantastic show.

When my daughter and I were explaining the show to someone the the other day, I kind of came up with "Indiana Jones for grade-schoolers," because it's got a lot of supernatural adventure and humor, and even at its most frightening it's still silly-scary. And even as a middle-aged guy, I find big parts of it to be quite funny and the ending still chokes me up a little. Definitely worth a watch or a rewatch - we just finished our second run through the series.
