Caves of Narshe Forums > Final Fantasy V > Protect Ring Guarded by Waterfall in Istory Falls

I can't seem to get that Protect ring in the chest that is guarded by a waterfall in Istory falls. The button only seems to get rid of the waterfall for like 2 seconds even if I use Sprint, I can't get to the chest. Is this a glitch? cause I don't want to continue until I get that Protect Ring. lol.

I think it's just a matter of timing. From what I remember, Sprint is a requirement to get it. Just make sure you're hitting the confirm button as soon as you approach it.

In reality, ignore Protect Rings and equip Hermes Sandals, they're a better accessory in every way - not only do you get Auto-Haste, but you're immune to Slow, Stop, Sleep, and Paralysis.

hello! Thank you so much for replying!

I've been contemplating on leaving that chest now since I get an encounter in the middle of sprinting my way to the chest which really is sooo annoying, but the completist in me wants to get it.

Anyway, I think I'm going to try a few more times, and if I'm unsuccessful, I'm just going to leave that one.

You can actually get the chest by walking into the little waterfall and jamming on the "A" button. There's no need to use the switch at all.

(edit: this is just for the SNES version, which doesn't have built-in Dash)
