First: there is a Final Fantasy XIV fan chorus happening this week! The details are on Alex Moukala's Twitter account, here: https://twitter.com/alex_moukala/status/149...G0NtJHfiaJLgBBQ

Alex is a musician known for doing funky covers of Final Fantasy and other video game music. Like me, he deeply loves FFXIV and has decided to put together a fan chorus to show appreciation to the devs for all their hard work on the game.

The instructions and other videos can be downloaded at this Google Drive link: https://t.co/v1GPmevmUW

It doesn't matter how great a singer you are, Alex wants EVERYONE to feel comfortable participating. I've sent him my version (audio only, I'm too shy for camera). Thought I'd post this here in case other FFXIV players want to take part!

Second, the latest Live Letter from the Producer was on Friday night, and I watched it up to the Q&A session. In it, they took a look back at the previous 11 years of the game and talked about their goals for the next ten years. Some interesting things of note:

  • They will be doing a graphics update! Yes, this means that the system requirements will go up. They are not aiming for photorealism but better use of lighting and shadow, along with better grass.
  • It sounds like they will continue supporting PS4 up to patch 7.0, at least.
  • They're aiming to make the game more solo friendly! They will be implementing Trust Parties in the older dungeons starting with the next patch. Trust Parties allow you to do dungeons with a party of NPCs.
  • For story reasons, we may see NPCs other than the Scions be used as Trusts.
  • They are not able to convert 8-man trials into Trust parties at this time.
  • The Cape Westwind trial is going away, to be replaced with an instanced, solo duty.
  • The Praetorium is being converted into a 4-man dungeon, and the last fight will be made into a solo, instanced duty.
  • There will be more Hildibrand adventures!
  • A new side-quest line, Tataru's Grand Endeavour!
  • New dungeons codenamed Criterion dungeons that will alter in difficulty depending on how many players enter it (1-4 players)

That's off the top of my head. Personally, I am pretty excited for these changes. I plan on making a fourth character (a bunny boy) so I can play through the changes in the early game and see how they handle it. I'm just hoping I can afford a PS5 by the time 7.0 comes out.
