This game has the most diverse set of costumes in the whole of the series. From Imperial soldiers to Figaro, and Doma, and a gaggle of specialized sprites on top of that. Not to mention the monsters' costuming is just unbelievable.
Do you have a favorite costume from this game? What would you go as? I'd have to say I'm the sort who'd go straight for the throat and dress up as Kefka...that seems like it'd be too fun to pass up. -------------------- X is blue. |

I dunno, I kind of like Maria. I might cosplay as Maria sometime, when I have like money or something.

If only by virtue of having multiple races, I think I would argue for Final Fantasy XII - which had some really good costuming across the board, IMO. At the same time, most of the costumes are somewhat restrained, so perhaps they don't register as being as diverse, if part of being 'diverse' involves being flashy/unique. (Final Fantasy X also has different races, but they aren't as distinguished in the clothing department, so I don't think I'd make an argument for it.)

Out of the lot my favorite costume would be Setzer's. Rather than making him look like a dashing pirate his well kept appearance along with the traditional almost naval-looking long coat made him seem more like a retired sea-captain than a rouge of any kind. His design also took away the tendency Square had (and still does) to put the more brooding characters in long capes or cloaks. While Setzer certainly had a tragic story, he doesn't spend his time moping about it like other long coat / cape clad characters we see; some examples being Auron and Vincent.
He was the first Final Fantasy character I chose to cosplay on my own and managed to nearly throw my back out bent over the sewing machine just working on the coat alone but it was well beyond worth it. The way that kind of coat flares out while walking and behaves in general will put you in character on its own even without a wig. It won me a small costume contest at least. x3 http://st-adrian.deviantart.com/art/The-po...pilot-396330174 I'll be picking him up again this coming summer for the wedding of a friend of mine. She and her husband have opted to have a second wedding for her friends to attend (the first is a private affair) in which she will gather a complete final fantasy VI cast all of which are going to steal the blushing Terra away from Edgar. Hopefully we'll get footage of the fiasco. While I do enjoy running around dressed as Terra a great deal I think I'd love to portray Kefka even moreso, he's been on my dream costume list for ages but the details of that costume are a bit daunting for me at the moment so I'll keep that one on the drawing board.
