Or are the enemy sprites way more impressive in the original Final Fantasy than in the other two 8-bit installments? The enemies in FF2 look ok, but in FF3 they look so cartoony and/or silly. Any thoughts?

Final Fantasy's enemy sprites were pretty good, but Final Fantasy III's blow them out of the water. They are better, with more colours (at least, I am pretty sure there are more colours). |

FFIII had easily the most detailed sprites of the 8bit era. FFI looked un-inspired and I've never played FFII
