Just what do you consider high quality? The SNES wasn't exactly capable of 192kbps mp3 quality sound, so you can't really expect anything too special.
In a worse case situation, you can just grab a ROM and a utility to extract sounds from it; there's one called "snessor" I believe (spelling may be incorrect.) -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

They're the same thing. The SPC7000 chip, used to render sound and music, doesn't distinguish between the two. Typically 7 of the 8 sound channels will be used to play music (with instruments being sounds plays at varying lengths/intensities), and the 8th will be used to play sounds; they're like instruments being played on the spot when certain conditions call for it.
A quick test just now revealed that, yeah, you can rip FF6's sounds with it. ![]() Edit: Another possibility is to run an emulator that supports the disabling of sound channels (I THINK Snes9x and ZSNES both allow it, but I'm not positive about it), disabling 1-7, and saving the output by recording it as a wav (to avoid quality loss, you can just plug your sound card's output into its input; two of those black extension plugs plugged into each other will do the trick.) Well, what is it you want to do? Asking for sounds is a pretty broad inquiry considering the game has quite a number of them. Care to give a little background on what it is you're doing? If all's you need are a few specific sounds, I'll be glad to see what I can do about ripping them from a ROM. But I don't know of any websites that have sounds, and the best help I can give otherwise are pointers on how to extract them yourself.
If you want any sounds in particular, just ask ahead and I'll see what I can do. But if this is just for the sake of maintaining a collection of your own, it would be easier and more convinient for you to learn how to rip them on your own. That way you could get sounds from any game (judging from your other thread, FF6 isn't the only game you want some from.) -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Ok thank you. The reason i want these because i use rpg maker and i am making an original fan game and i need sound effects like Menu sounds, save point sound, chocobo (i would love ff9s but i think impossible), wind in Narshe, splash sound, most of the weapon sounds with magic, Magitek and some others i can think of. Since this isn't a ff5 forum, i wont gointo it. Thanks even if you cant

I found this by searching for [ "final fantasy iii" wav ] in google. Also, this came up for [ "final fantasy vi" wav ]. (Edit: with Interceptor's bark as the fifth file on that page)
It was the first link that came up, too... In both cases... Anyways. Whatever. Hopefully that helps. ![]() This post has been edited by Silverlance on 7th August 2005 08:09 -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |
