It's a litlle thing I realised just now, watching a response from Zephir in a topic : I have +7 hours in the time engine, because I'm in France. When a post comes in, I see it according to my time, but when it's edited, the time is displayed without the +7 hours rectification, so that the editing appears to have been made before the post was even sent!!
It's not that much of a matter, but it makes edits hard to follow... |

Here Here! I've noticed this problem as well. I don't remember when it was, but I do remember it causing me a problem (though, again, I can't stipulate on what it might have been. Sorry).

Okay, well...I realize there is a difference, of course. What I don't realize, is how this is a problem ^-^
Do we have a way to set timezones? Or is it all just automatically our own? -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Does the time an edit display go by the editor's time or CoN time?

I *think* it goes by the editor's time.
And yes, this is one of my pet peeves about this board system, the edit line often says it was edited before the post was posted. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about it right now, since it would require rewriting the edit system. It will be fixed within the next few months, though. |

I'll take it to mean that the rest of the site is so perfect that things like this are all we have to complain about.

You're correct : like I said in the first place, it's not that much of a matter. I'm not a big fan of ass kissing, but when compliments are well earned, I say it : CoN is a great site, it's actually the only FF site where I'm a member, so... ![]() |

There is one other thing, though: Do you think it would be possible for some kind of edit notice? When someone has some new info to add to a thread, and they're the last one to post, they'll edit, rather than double post, leaving us unaware that anything happened.

You're allowed to double post for the purposes of bumping, as long as the bump itself serves a purpose and you have something to say at that time. There's no point bumping a topic that's still on the first page, for instance.
If you really want to be neat about it, you can edit the old last post in the thread, copy all the text, delete it, then put it back at the top of your bump post. |
