This is a poll that's not done often (as are most of my polls). The purpose here is to stimulate some discussion, hopefully.

Ah, the Fiends, otherwise known as the Lords. The elemental beasts.

Although I recognize FFI's Fiends, I'd have to say I love FFIV's the best. They've always given me tough times, and I love their battle theme. And you can't say Rubicant, who's always been tough, isn't a fair fighter (he restores your HP and MP before each fight with him). You have to respect him.

Also, where do you think they came from? Did the planet create them? And if so, why? Why would it create such destruction machines. Are the Fiends supposed to be analogous to the Weapons in FFVII? Tell me what you think. -CSM

I sort of prefer the proper spellings for FF IV's fiends/lords (Scarmiglione, Cagnazzo, Barbariccia, and Rubicante), for the nifty Divine Comedy reference.

Anyhow, I guess I prefer the FF IV lords. They actually have, you know, personality. And yeah, this poll isn't done often because it's on the pointless side of relevance continuum.

i personally like the IX fiends simply because they offered slightly more challenging fights.

Lich, Kary, Krakken, and Tiamat from I- they were just too easy. even in the chaos shrine

Milon, Valvalis, Cagnazzo, and Rubicant- they were also much too easy for being 'elemental lords' when you have to fight them all at once, there was just no challenge for me. No one died but them. sure they're theme is cool, but there wasnt any challenge

IV Fiends all the way.

Especially considering they have the best battle music in the game.

The FFI and FFIX fiends are the same...

I think I like FFIV's fiends, for the reasons laszlow stated.

FFI Fiends hands down...they are all very challenging to fight (well, Kraken not as much tongue.gif) and very nicely designed. Their lines were cheesy, but that's what there's to love about them biggrin.gif

Edit
Anyone notice how the FFIV Lords are Italian? XD

ell, that's because all four are names of demons in the Divine Comedy, which was written by the Italian poet Dante Aligheri (spelling might be off, there).... unless you were being sarcasting or something, in which case I'm just an ass.

Edit
I can't spell Divine, apparently.

Sort of. The Divine Comedy is the story of Dante's journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. It's divided into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, corresponding to each part of his journey. The Roman poet Vergil is his guide through Hell and Purgatory and Beatrice, Dante's ideal of the perfect woman, is his guide through Heaven. It's basically a book that explores
Dante's interpretation of traditional Christian perceptions of those three places of the afterlife, and it's heavily inspired by Greek and Roman classics.

What about Mystic Quest's elemental fiends? Pazuzu was the hardest of them all.

I go difficulty-wise. FF4 and FF9 had super easy fiends. Maybe FF4 was the easiest since using the strongest elemental spell each are weak against takes atleast 1-3 tries to take them down. Though FF9 you only were able to fight Lich, and he was most likely the easiest because of trance.

Because the reason why I found the fiends much harder in FF1 was because spells they were weak against didn't do so omg uber damage iirc and it took me plenty of strategizing and thinking.

So my ranking in difficulty for the FF with the hardest fiends goes like this:

HARDEST
1) Final Fantasy 1
2) Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
3) Final Fantasy 4
4) Final Fantasy 9
EASIEST

I prefer the guys from FFIV. They have more personalityh and relevance to the storyline instead of being run-of-the-mill bosses.

I think I'll go with the FF1 fiends simply 'cuz it's the original game. I've never played IV and they look cooler and make great boss battles in FFIX.

FFIV had the coolest Fiends, even though they were simple to beat. You gotta love Rubicante for healing before he fights you.

FFIV by far, although Gilgamesh from FFV is cool as well (and the Clash on the Big Bridge by far the best song in that game), but the 4 feinds wer't that simple to defeat just that one last fight is tricky thats all.

I vote that FFIV had the best fiends because the creators went a step further and gave the fiends personalities and little quirks. They were more than just bosses that you faced once, but they actually seemed to be secondary characters in their own light.
