Yang does more damage and has the Kick ability, which damages all enemies for 0 MP.
Edge is certainly more versatile. His Ninja magic can be pretty powerful, but you get him so late in the game that by then, most monsters are stronger than the magic. Overall, it came down to voting on their personalities, and I chose Yang. -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... Noble is the heart of man... |

Yang is self-disciplined.
Edge is arrogant. As for characters I perfer the latter characteristic. Gameplay wise, I also perfer Edge, more versatile and kick took too long for the little damage it did. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Edge. Duh. Yang gets Kick, oh my. Edge can steal, flee for free, has (useless, but still does more than Kick) ninjutsu, and of course Throw. Even on the GBA version, he'd be better than Yang. Not to mention Yang's wierd 'stuck at 6,009' HP thing he has going on.
Yes, more people throwing that word around... -------------------- |

Edge,
His arrogance and cockiness added some spice to the story. His versatility on the battlefield, haste and shurikens Also his sprite looks better. Hamedo how is Edge emo? -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Quote (Cloud_Strife510) how is Edge emo? Observe the way he deals with his romantic feelings--he's like a drama So yeah, as for personalities, I MUCH MUCH MUCH prefer Yang. Edge is also arrogant, along with what was discussed above, and I don't like his character. He shouldn't get Rydia. However, as for gameplay, Yang's !Kick doesn't do much damage--Edge can trump that. Plus, Edge has an attack that can nullify defense--!Dart (a.k.a. !Throw). He can also steal useful items, such as my Rydia-powerleveling session in which I'd only have Rydia alive so she could get all the EXP from battles except ones with Lamias when I'd revive Edge so he could steal infinite numbers Ethers from them. !Ninja (a.k.a. !Ninjitsu) is not very useful for powerful magic offense, but it deals elemental magic damage to all targets--useful for pudding-type enemies, especially since Rydia's MP is more "useful" and you'd want to have someone else deal with this kind of stupid battle, preferably. Additionally, it does sort of supplement your other characters' elemental magic when fighting the fiends and other elemental-weak bosses. One more lightning spell with which to smother Cagnazzo, for example. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. In a pure physical sense, Yang could simply defeat edge very quickly. Not to mention Yang's self discipline and sense of honor makes him a much better character in my eye compared to Edge's cocky spoiledness. The only thing I really think Edge is good for is his elemental magic for exploiting weaknesses. Then again, yang can do the same thing with his claws, so that dort of cancels that out. At a high level, Yangs physical attack can do just as much as Edge throwing a fuma. So I like yang better both as a person and for gameplay.

I still say Edge is better. With Edge there's place for personality development, a dynamic character and far more variety in gameplay (plus, he looks better). Yang is the Oh-so-perfectly disciplined with the oh-so-ultimate training. Too flat a character for me, although I was very fond of him, to compare him with Edge. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Yang.
He's much stronger, and though he has low DEF, his high HP makes up for it. He's not a total brat, and he is not some strange pervert. not to mention, his name sounds like wang (hehe! I like both when it comes to fighting, besides Edges extremley low HP.
Yangs thunder claws are handy when your going to Baron to defeat Caganzzo, and Caganzzo himself. But Edge can become a great fighter himself if he has 2 awesome katana's. But i like Yang more for his personality. Loyal to his king is one. So i voted for Yang. I prefer Yang over Edge not only because I like his character better (Edge is..arrrgh!) but also his moves and strength.
Edge does has some good points (like the Throw command) but it's rendered not as useful without the duplicating technique (99 throwing Excaliburs anyone?). His magic is pretty weak. Yang has buildup for the massive blow and kick to hit multiple enemies at once. He wins hands down. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." Both characters's developments are as flat as a wall. I say Yang is much better than Edge. Edge is an arrogant asshole who needs to get plenty of branch sticks up his ass until he shuts the f**k up with his ridiculous bullcrap. Atleast Yang knows proper manners. And since he's a "master karate", he still manages to train even more! How cool is that? A MASTER that still trains because he doesn't realize how dumb he is nobody else is trying to put a competition on him!
Gameplay-wise, Edge can use some decent Ninja magic, and Rubicant went down like easy with Flood. He also steals, which is positive, and he can use Throw. But for some reason I find myself using Yang more. He can double\triple his power for a few more turns in combat and deal much better damage physically, he can boost up his defense, he can use Kick on all foes, and best of all he has the best HP in the game. So I say, Yang |

Edge, simply for gameplay purposes. Throw in particular is a very good skill, excluding the fact that you lose whatever item Edge has thrown. Ninja magic isn't that great, with the two exceptions of smoke and image (Although I never really got much use out of image, on paper it sounds alright). Steal's ok too, I suppose.
Yang's alright, but lacks variety. Granted, this can be obtained through clever claw mix-ups, but it's not quite enough and offers very little. Kick's damage doesn't ever seem worth it. Oh, keep in mind this is from a SNES/PS1 standpoint, as opposed to the GBA version of course. This post has been edited by Lionfart on 4th August 2006 09:27 -------------------- Oh noes!
