What would you look forward to see in FFV Advance if you want to buy it when it's out?
I'd like to see it without glitches. =P There was just so much problems with stuff like Telepo/Exit and with some monsters that dont attack and if you manipulate them they dont attack either. |

A less skewed EXP table.
If you're patient, you can reach uber high levels in world 1 without too much effort because the exp later enemies give doesn't vary much. The only exceptions are Iron Giant and Magic Pot, both of which give 10k exp. Far more than any other enemy. But aside from those, enemies often give a few hundred exp more or less... Admittedly, I don't mind much. It's why my berzerker is now level 54. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Well, the thing I would want the most is a translation that's better than the Anthology version. Faris' pirate accent really got on my nerves.
The way the endgame of FF V was so haphazardly put together, it wouldn't be out of place at all to stick in a new postgame dungeon or two. New/better/secret equipment goes hand in hand with said dungeon, of course. Oh, and I'm with Silverlance on this one - some more reasonable experience tables would be a welcome adjustment. -------------------- |

+ Good script.
+ Lenna, Cara, Exdeath, Guido, Lix, Worus, ... + SNES-quality music. Because, somehow, SNES quality turned out to be better than PS quality. Shockingly. + Fix all the bugs--wait, there were bugs? -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Hopefully, this translation will clear up the whole 'ExDeath/X-Death/Exodus' debate.
Apart from that...I can't really think of much to add to this game. I would like to see re-designed bare sprites (Cara's one in particular is terrible), but it won't happen... -------------------- |

New Dungeons
Butz becomes Bartz. and that's about it. But one thing I hope they don't change is the ATB. They kinda screwed that up in FF4GBA as we all know ![]() -------------------- |

Going to have to agree with ToD. Clear up the Exdeath/XDeath/Exodus thing, and some sprite retooling.
As for bonus dungeons and new bosses, well... Are they really necessary for FFV? Omega and Shinryu were hard ENOUGH superbosses as is... Tougher ones than them? That would be insane. Then again, as far as superbosses go, Omega and Shinryu are probably not the nastiest by a long shot, especially if you know the tricks. -------------------- Giggidy giggidy giggidy! I don't have a lot to say, as I've only ever played the SNES translated version, and I felt it was good. I suppose a sound effect improvement is number 1 on my list. I guess also a graphical improvement. I don't know much about the translation, but I would rather see things like "Haste" than "Fast."

A few new classes would be nice. Perhaps 1 hidden joke class, 1 standard intermediate class, and another hidden one. I don't remember what all the hey had, otherwise I'd suggest a few.
Bonus dungeons are a must in any remake, IMO. Without something new to look forward too, I usually can't replay a game. Secret bosses should be very difficult, as the game itself was realtively easy once you figured it out. Maybe borrow other FF bosses, like the remake of I and II did. That's about it. -------------------- I'm not buyin' anythin'! |

Exodus sounds like a much better name for ExDeath.
I really wouldn't change that much in FF5, I love this game the way it is! -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

Not so much as an addition as a lack of subtraction:
Both Dawn of Souls and (to a lesser extent) FF IV Advance seemed much easier on the Game Boy then on the original system(s) their corresponding games came from. I'd love to at least see an option to play the games at the original difficulty level. |

Some new dungeons would be cool, not a necessity, but they would be cool.
What I'd really want to do is get a better translation |

There already were two translations. An emulator one and a PSX one. I prefer the emulator one, but it's likely we won't get that.
Anyway, this is the most difficult thing to add new stuff to, since FFV really doesn't need anything else, or putting anything else in would make the game too easy. I like the fact that you have to get the ultimate weapons as rare steals from enemies in the Cleft of Dimension. So, nothing new for me. -CSM -------------------- The NEW Final Fantasy Wiki! What do you mean it isn't likely? It isn't even possible. The most popular emulated FF V translation is the J2E translation (there is more than one, as you don't seem to believe), and they did so without any permission from Square whatsoever. Whatever translation we're getting for FF V advance, it isn't one of the unofficial emulation fan-translations. I just hope that Faris doesn't have a ****ing pirate accent. -------------------- |

I have a feeling this means that I will likely forever be disappointed in the quality of FFV's official scripts. Unless one day I "take control" of the FF series (not unlike how IGA "took control" of the Castlevania series) and declare that Squenix shall re-release FFV with a better translation that's much closer to the J2E translation. And I don't see that happening. In fact, I think I'm more likely to become US President than I am to get that kind of post. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Well, don't get your hopes down quite yet. To date, Square-Enix has had three official translations of FF IV - the SNES original, the Chronicles remake, and now the GBA remake, each improving on the last (arguably, sure, but I think so at least). Hell, they even changed place names between the FF I translations in Origins and Advance. I'll guarantee you that the new FF V translation will be significantly different from the Anthology version, but as to how and how much there's no way to tell right now. Esti esperanto.

Some more stuff to add:
I'd quite like it if the translation was the same as RPGe's except with a less messy script of words. Cara sounds better than Krile and Kururu. I'd want the monsters to have a smarter strategy when it comes to boss fights and remove that !Giltoss command it's a pvssy command on the final boss. Good thing Gilturtle Shinryu and Omega are a b****s. This post has been edited by NeoEx-Death on 5th March 2006 21:31 |

Is the J2E one the one with "Worse Castle" or the one with "Walse Castle?" Because I know there's two of them. I should have said I prefer the "Worse Castle" one. There's probably about a dozen of these translations with various differences. There's also "Jikuu" versus "Dimen." (I use the Dimen version). -CSM -------------------- The NEW Final Fantasy Wiki!
