Suppose that Miramax or whatever bought the rights to the FFVI storyline from Squaresoft and made a screenplay out of it.

Who should star in it?

I think Sean Connery would make an excellant Cyan... or possibly Emperor Gestahl.

I see Sean Connery being a good Gestahl. Kefka... who would be diabolical looking? Matt Damon could be Locke, he's a ladies man. Kate Winslet reminds me of Terra, or maybe Celes.

Terra... for some reason, i think that Jessica Alba [Dark Angel] would do a decent job portraying the role

Locke... hmm... kinda tough to decide. Maybe Ben Affleck or someone like that

Sabin... gotta have someone built. Maybe someone like Arnold Schwarzenegear [<- sp?]

Edgar... Devon Sawa or Brad Pitt.

Celes... i had to think a little about this role. maybe someone like Nicole Kidman or Reese Witherspoon

Gehstal... i second the motion of Connery being a good evil emperor

Kefka... thinking about it and remembering Carrey's much stretched role being an evil madman in Batman Forever, i think he would be a good Kefka. He would get the evil kackling down perfectly. Plus, Kefka wasn't a sane villain. that leaves him open to be as comedic and stupid and insane as Jim carrey would be able to make him.

Cyan... If Tom Hanks grew a mustache... maybe

Setzer... Kevin Spacey

Terra - I think Ming-Na would play this role well (Hey, I had to get her in here somewhere ).

Locke - I think a young Harrison Ford would have played him well.  Since he isn't young anymore, I think i would have to cast Owen Wilson (from Shangai Noon and Zoolander) as the treasure hunter.  

Sabin:  Hmm. I think Mark Wahlberg (Yes good old Marky Mark) would work here.

Edgar could be played by Matt Damon.

Celes would be well played by Drew Barrymore perhaps.

I see Sean Connery as Cyan or General Leo.

And how can we forget Mog? I don't want a stinkin' computer generated Moogle either. We need to make some realistic Moogle Suits. If John Belushi was still alive I would stick inside the suit. Since he isn't, I would stick Billy Murray inside in his place.

First of all, let me say that trying to pack FF6 into a two hour movie is a bad idea.  It should be a series.

Hmm, for Terra...I think I would like to have Christina Ricci there. Not sure why, I'm a fan of Ricci and think she could do the part well. I'd love to have the singer Jewel for this part, but I don't think she acts.

For Celes...I'm all for Nicole Kidman for that one.

Locke...oh, that actor, you know the villain in Labyrinth? I don't know why, I think it's the eyes, but I like him as Locke.

Edgar should be the man who played Legolas in Lord of the Rings ^-^

If Brad Pitt were a bit bigger, I'd say he'd make a good Sabin.

She is an actress from ER, and she voiced Mulan and the female lead in FF:TSW.  No worries .

Anyways back on topic.  I said earlier that Sean Connery would make a good Leo or Cyan. I would keep Connery as Cyan and have Morgan Freeman play the General.

Sabin: Kurt Russel, he has been buff, he could do it if he looks a bit younger.

Actually, Russel Crowe might make a good Sabin. Gogo can be anyone, they just have to sound mysterious. Umaro would be Chewbacca like, just white and without the annoying high pitched yell.

Locke : Well Leo Decaprio. Let me explain why before I get shot a few times and thrown off a very high bridge. Locke is a pathetic horrible person who should be thrown from the airship tied to a cement block. So should Decaprio. And since a lot of females favor both people, it makes sense.

Shadow : Johny Dep. Shadow is a dark mysterious person with a hidden past and a cold heart. Johny Dep is a great actor, and He could capture Shadow perfectly. I mean look what he did in Sleepy Hollow, From Hell and of course, Edward Scissor Hands.

Terra : Christina Ricci, I mean come on

Celes : Hrmm...Sarah Michelle Gellar might be able to pull it off, if not the red head from Resident Evil. She'd do it pretty well.

Setzer : Hmm....Brad Pitt would do it, he'd just have to grow his hair. I mean he already had the reckless free spirit thing down, just look at Fight Club!

Gau's Father/Crazy old man : Robin Williams. That guy is just funny.

Kefka : Jim Carey. He did the Riddler to perfection, and I mean come on, who wouldn't wanna see Jim Carey blow up a few towns?

Mog I think would be done well animated with some really good voice actor.

Emperor Ghestal : Anthony Hopkins. He would be the perfect Ghestal, I mean his skills movies speak for themselves.

I would say Snipes for Leo, Laurence is a big man, maybe too big for Leo. I'm glad somone took my side on the Jet Li idea. I mean...remember the phantom train? Wouldn't it be awesome to see Jet Li kick some Zombie/ghost ass? What about Steven Seagal for Cyan, they look about the same right? Besides, Steven can use a tanto knife like no other.

Brad Pitt as Setzer?! No way, Pitt hasn't the depth and seriousness of Setzer, I think he is also a bit young.

Firstly, you could've edited that back, no need for a double post.  Secondly, that doesn't make it on-topic.  Carry on. - Tiddles

ouch.  like a cheap whore.  no offense against whores, it's just an expression...

I once planned this out about 3 yrs ago, filling every character in.  Too bad I forgot them all...  For Russel Crowe, I'd put him in for Cyan, but that would be typecasting as it's merely his Gladiator character all over again.  But more importantly, what about the director?  Too many movies take an incredible cast like those mentioned above and they just butcher the hell out of it.  Ruin the film.  The most important role would be to put in a quality director-- I'd go with Shyamalan.  Speilburg wouldn't take the story seriously, and he'd crap it.  I bet Night would go for it, though.  

Oh and stick with Li for Shadow.  As it's a 2-3 hr film and the plot will not develop enough to explore Relm's and Shadow's relationship, go ahead and stick with Li and leave Baram out of it completely.

Carey is a no-brainer. Kefka.

Gau:  Jack Black.  Kidding.
