hardest fight area

 
what is the area wich gave you the most trouble?
Marsh cave:The stupid enemies who poison and stun can be a royal pain and early on the mages can be deadly.Ice cave:insta death can be really hard to get past and can be troublesome:Volcano:The fire damage and enemies can hurt you good.Sky fortress:The annoying warmech can be tough to fight.The castle where you get the rat tail in:These enemies are pretty strong if your not leveled enough and can hurt alot. I found the toughest:The ice cave and the marsh cave.


Marsh cave the first time i played ff1.

Ice cave more often because the wizards regular hit insta kills you and there is nothing you can do.

Marsh Cave Definetley! Even Chaos was easier to beat than that accurse'd place!

Ice cave was EASY! Evil Eye at the top got my party to lvl.100 in a few hours and the enemies here aren't too savage If you prioritise.

Sunken temple.

Are you talking about the original version or the remakes? I guess you're talking about a remake since the original had a level cap of 50, not 100. I heard the original was quite hard, while the newer versions are easy except for a few optional bosses.

I've only played the psp version which is pretty easy. The labyrinth of time bonus dungeon can be difficult since you have to sacrifice things like the attack command or the magic command to procede, and if you take too long to solve the puzzle on a floor your hp and mp start being drained.

I am talking about the original being really easy.

The remake for gba is also really easy.

Just got a shield that not only raises my stats but also blocks negative status effects.

I just killed ragnarok and shinryu wich were fun to kill.

Level 100? Pfft. The game's beatable around 30's.

As to the topic at hand I call Earth Cave. It was the first dungeon that gave me REAL trouble.

Or at least that is how i felt.

Also in the original by the time you got zeus mace and thor's hammer it was ridiculously easy to kill enemies.Plus with bane sword its even worse because its even more powerfull.

And in gba version i was basicly invincible.Literally no monster could kill me.

I had:4 ribbons 1 on each character to resist all stat changes
a item wich prevents instant death from spells,a shield wich also resist status effects and a weapon wich has me doing over 1k dmg per hit.

Shinryu was a little harder though,it was actually fun because he did loads of damage.And omega of ff5 is a real challenge worthy of me.


Anyways the topic is stil ff1 so not going to leave the topic.

Is it normal that i went through 20 levels in the water shrine? i killed various bosses:first one being gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh was actually reaally easy.On the other hand shinryu was a little harder as he casts flare and it hurts quite a bit but definately worth it.

Atomos was also pretty easy.

I did play nes version.

It was a bit harder to do at lvl 13.

I used a cheat to get the airship to see if i could get the airship from the ice cave and i couldn't even survive the gheists at lvl 15.

I was equipped with:

1 cat claw on my black magician but he couldn't use so i had something else equipped.also had on my black magician a ring and a gold armor.

2 non equipped monks since they are better without weapons or armor

1 white mage with a silver hammer gold armor and a ring from gaea

I survived alot of the fights but the onet hat killed me was after i fell through the hole downwards.

It was kind of hard even though both monks do a huge amount of damage.

All in all,perhaps i just overplayed ff1 and know it too well.
I still find both hugely easy but some stuff do make it hard like xxx and rub spell wich can be aggravating at high level since they seem to cast it often in places like sky fortress and the final boss casts it and so do some enemies in ice cave like evil eye.

I found the Marsh Cave really difficult when I first played the game. Then again, I was in the 4th grade and didn't know any better.

Now? Ice Cave or the Temple of Fiends Revisited.

Or... how about,

only 1 option...

I found the earth area to be a pain because you can get stoned. (not the good kind of stoned) and the only way to cure it is an expensive as hell soft item. The magic that cures it you don't get until after the dungeon.

IIRC it was the marsh cave which was the hardest area for me.

afair I played it through two times, and if I recall correctly the first one paylthrough was much harder even it was at easy mode and the 2nd in normal.

I recall how I mastered the temple at the end...I lost all my higher ~(lv6-7+) mana in the fight mainly against the bosses, I used poison and other instant kill magic to get through the random encounters. When I fought the last boss I spammed out all my low magic spells, for instance, the black magic the ninja can use (for instance, the thingy which increases the damage >_>) and put all buffs I had to my knight which was able to knock out the final boss then. HELL, I hoped the whole fight that he would die in the next attack as (afair) I didn't even had the mana to heal my party....

Your lucky

FF1 is very short and sweet.

Back in the 80s it was common to have short games,even common amongst some games to not be able to save and instead use passwords to reclaim your position and level.

The temple isn't too long,its about attempting to save mana and using pots for heals after battle.

Marsh cave, I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate it! It drives me to the point of me rather fighting lavos in chrono trigger alone with a mop! But I digress, It has the wizards, Poisonous enemys suck, and in the nes (and origins on normal mode.) version you only get few per day spells. pinch.gif

The hardest fight in the game?

Gotta go with the Dark Elf. He'll 3 times out of 4 begin the fight by attempting to one-shot a character, and there's a 3 out of 4 chance it'll be your tank.

If you go into that fight unprepared, you'll get wasted unless you're extremely fortunate.

But the hardest fight area is of course The Corner. Colloquially referred to as the Peninsula of Power-Leveling, it's the promontory far to the northeast of Pravoka.

It's the earliest place in the game you can get to where you can get blasted to smithereens in seconds. Somebody wanders up there by accident before fighting Bikke, they're meat.

But of course, any fight can be difficult if you don't know what you're doing. Let's say a beginner tries to walk straight to the Temple of Fiends as soon as the game begins, and they're totally naked. That's a recipe for disaster right there.

I'm sticking with my original ToFR is the hardest and Ice Cave is the most frustrating.

Since then I've come to the conclusion of how much I hate the Earth cave. It's so long and you have to do it two runs whether you want to or not and it has some unpleasant baddies in there. The Earth guys hit really hard, plenty of annoying mobs with poison and a gang of Cockatrices can always ruin your day.

And Marsh Cave for beginners, talk about a huge difficulty spike compared to what you've been doing up to that point.

I just got past the ice cave and did lich with the 4 white mages challenges.The ice cave is a nightmare.Took me 15-16 tries by camping out with a cabin or a tent, and keep resetting over and over till i get the right enemy.Whats worse:Piscidemons everywhere.I can't run away and i'm forced to fight them.I waste so many heal potions, but at least i get a lot of xp and money.Each huge group i was raking 2500 gold, and around 600.800 xp.

I wiped a whole lot of times also trying to loot marsh cave.Those evil monsters there? its a nightmare to loot at level 12.Its almost worth it to wait till you have zeus gloves and thor hammer and heal staff.Oh yeah:The earth cave on 4 white mages is extremely hard.You have to keep praying for not getting cockatrices and a certain earth elemental, or your dead.Too many piscidemons is a death sentence.I thought i wasn't going to make it out.Took me around 5 tries.Its the third floor and 4th floor, because piscidemons are common and cockatrices.

I am trying to get the banesword to wipe out enemies in gurguru for getting the treasures.I'm not sure if i can do it though.I can probably get the sword, but i need a lot more money to afford exit spell and other stuff a guide recommends for the run.

EXIT special allows anyone, if you have a W Wizard anyway, which is of even more importance to a challenge group to be able to loot partial dungeons more effectively. Or get exp in the Temple of Fiends Revisited. They give the you the Masmune so late in the game it's there's not a whole lot of justification for Exiting out with it. Just to have it and I guess if you were using a challenge party that could make it through the four fiends but wasn't ready for Chaos and thought it would help you grind faster.

The Marsh Cave is certainly a challenge for the party so early in the game.

Honestly, I think that the whole game is a trial in patience. I like the game, dont get me wrong. It is the insane amount of random encounters you have to deal with every 5 steps.

If the random encounter rate was cut by 1/3, it would be a lot more fun imo.

I think the hardest part of the Marsh Cave is the enemies can inflict poison. At an early level, with not very much money to purchase Antidotes, it can be quite the status ailment.

CRAWL can do a lot of damage to a poorly protected party with few HP. They are nothing to mess with. Scorpions also are something of a problem. Red Skeletons too, though the HARM spell takes care of them quickly enough, if you've got the MP.

The real problem doesn't lie in getting to the CROWN. It's in the Wizard enemies (Mind Flayers, really, but that didn't fit in the NES text box) that guard it. They are extremely powerful on the attack, and have by the standards of a Level 5 party outfitted with Pravoka-Level equipment TONS of HP. They also are very good at evasion.

Then you have to make it back out and back to ElfLand to recover.
