Well, sort of. I bought a PSP a couple of weeks ago, and FFT was a major reason. The biggest motivator was probably Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles, though.

Yes actually I already did. I use it for everything now. The only problem is the wait on FF tactics...4 days....

I have FFT on PSX and that's enough for me. So no, I'm not buying a PSP, but it's because I'm not interested, not because I already have one.

Yes, I would love to play the new FFT, and it doesn't appear that emulation would be an option anywhere in the near future, which of course leaves only the hardware PSP.

However, I'm about a decade beyond the time where I would buy a system for a game I wanted to play on it, regardless of what that game is. My budget and my time don't mesh with that concept any more.

Now, if I find out that I'll have to travel for my job after the first of the year, which is unlikely but possible, then I'll rethink the whole thing. However, I'd probably still be more likely to get a DS first.

I'm going to buy a PSP for this game simply because I'm in the UK, where FF Tactics has never been released...until now.

I've heard so much about the game, from this and other places on the web. You 'merkins don't know how good you've had it for the last 10 years cool.gif . For me it's basically like a whole new FF game, and my anticipation is quite high.

I won't be buying a PSP straight away, mind (and will be going for the new "Slim & Lite" version, which is a rubbish name). Will have to do some saving up first, as they still cost a fair bit, but come, I dunno, Christmas time or thereabouts, I should be able to finally play this game.

In fact, I think it's the only Final Fantasy that I haven't yet played (barring the new DS game/s that has/ve just come out in Japan, that is).

I hope a few of you null voted, because you are providing answers clearly not allowed on the poll.

On a personal note, I don't believe I've ever in my life been this excited for a game, let alone one that is going to cost me 200 dollars.

The new slim PSP-2000 series is out here in Canada, and it's available in a bundle pack for only $229.99 at EB Games (126.16 GBP according to Concierge.com). It comes with a 1Gig Memory Stick, a Family Guy UMD, and a Daxter game, plus the necessities.

Now that that little bit of propaganda is out of the way, yes, I'm planning on buying a PSP for FFT. That won't be the only game I get for it (Innocent Life, Monster Hunter 2, and Disgaea are also on my list), but it is the one game that made me decide to get a PSP. Now, I just need to get enough money for it...

Me too. It's very rare that I buy a new game, let alone a new system so that I can buy games for it. I tend to get enough video gaming out of my vast collection of NES games, as well as my collection of "Anniversary" and "Anthology" type games on PS1/PS2 (Mega Man, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, etc.).

To answer the initial question, no, I wouldn't buy a PSP for FFT. I'd just buy a PS1 copy instead if I got the hankering for some Tactics.

Where's the answer "no, I don't think it's worth it"?

Anyway, I am indeed buying one for Tactics. DAMN YOU, SQUARE. DAMN YOU.

That's exactly what I got. It's really nice, and also has a feed to play PSP games on a big screen (it's sold seperately, but works great).

The key with that one is to make sure you buy the right one. There are two very similar looking products; one only works for audio, while the other one is the video. Or at least, that's what I was told when someone brought one in to return it.

Well, sort of. One works for audio, video, and pictures outputted from a PSP, while the other one is for games. I bought the correct one, and it works great.

I got that same Daxter Bundle last week, and it's the best investment I've ever made.

Yes, I purchased it solely for FFT... but now that I have it I'm enjoying other things like FIFA 07 and Jeanne D'Arc. That, and I love me some portable Metal Gear Solid... though they'll all gather dust when I can take FFT with me anywhere.

I just found a bundle pack with star wars battlefront at best buy, does it include everything that the daxter pack includes except different game and no family guy?

Moderator Edit
This is a thread about buying the PSP specifically and solely for FFT. You didn't even mention FFT in your thread. You in no way addressed the question being asked. Try to stay on-topic in the future.

I got my PSP (the old fat one) for FFT, and thankfully joining the portable Playstation
party this late in the game means there's quite a selection of good games out there,
particularly the recent JeanneDArc and upcoming Disgaea. A lot of other personal
choices, too (especially GTA LibertyCity for the multiplayer). It's worth the $180 door
price to get into this rave!

However, one small problem: WHERE IS THE FREAKIN GAME? North American
release date of Oct09, and everyone—everyone—won't have it until tomorrow. Oh
Sqeenix, you jerk your fanbase around so hard.

October 9th is the shipping date, October 10th is the street date. It's not just Square-Enix's fault; it's like that with just about every game released nowadays.

Thanks, Laszlow. I haven't bought a game on-streetdate and off-the-shelf in about
forever, so all this is a cruel shock to me. I expected a HarryPotter-like concurrence
between launch and availability, but clearly that only happens when wizards assist
with the delivery and secrecy of the launch.

A curse upon all you who got the game today! May your first-acquired characters crystalize before the end of chapter one! tongue.gif

I jest, of course. I'm just bugged by the fact that the truck carrying today's shipment, including FFT, apparently missed the ferry over to the island and, as a result, it won't be arriving until tomorrow. Thus, I'm stuck unable to play it until then.

Nice curse, Suunok! I replayed that first simple mission, trying to get everyone to
crystallize for Ramza's benefit, and keep my weakling team from dying. I forgot the
boredom curve of Chapter 1. Also, dismissed some of those default losers. The
only way to custom avatars for everyone you know is to start early!

I'm trying to get a perfect crystallization on the Mandalia Plains, now, with Ramza
and his two custom-named buddies.

Well I got the Daxter bundle pack and FFT yesterday, I have to say its pretty cool. They renamed alot of stuff and the dialogue is completely different. They talk more like the old english "hither thou" and "have at you" kind of way but it is still pretty good

so i bought my psp the day after ffts release, and let me tell you the game is great. there is a few things that are obnoxious like the lagtime before the moves. i was hoping there would be some new side quests and whatnot but it sounds like it doesnt

I'm itching to try the multiplayer myself, actually. That should have been infra; then
all CoNners could play online! Hopefully, someone at the school will have one. A
friend of mine who sponsors the games/anime club on campus might be my only
hope, but he's very much in the DS camp.
I had a coworker note how good the game looked on the PSP; I was surprised,
since the look is pretty dated. I plan on loading Daxter so he can see just how much
data the PSP can push to that little screen.

The crazy lag is insane, LuneKnight. I wonder what causes such a hang-up. It's
a sprite-based game, after all! Maybe modern programming lends itself to faster
loads on static textures than dynamic sprites? If anyone knows what the source of
the lag is, I'd be curious to know why.

I've voted yes, as it is technically correct I wish to buy a PSP partially as a result of FFT. However, there are additional reasons and the qualifier "before 2010" is inserted into the answer with me. tongue.gif

No, I have a PSP, and I probably won't get Lion War. Looking at the videos I see of it, there is terrible lag when the spell effects occur. That's a big turn off for me, and besides, I'm fine with my PSX copy of FFT.

Still, though, I'm considering the PSP version of FFI and maybe even Crisis Core. It's gotten good praise so far.

Edit
Screw what I said. The new translation and cutscenes are just amazing...

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

It's really tempting me to. I'd love to have Tactics and the remake of Roundo of Blood anytime on the go but I already have a DS so that's slowing me down... One day, perhapes.
