Biography

Relm is a talented young artist from Thamasa, where she lives with her grandfather Strago. Terra, Locke, and Shadow assist Strago in rescuing Relm from a burning building, and later on Relm joins the team as they investigate the mountain west of Thamasa. Relm can use magic to make her paintings come to life, a useful talent that she occasionally employs to threaten others even outside of battle.

Gameplay

Relm has the highest base Magic stat among the playable characters and her Speed is pretty good, but her Strength and Stamina are both very low. Relm is only able to equip robes and costumes as armor and daggers and paintbrushes as weapons, making her equipment set low on offense and defense overall, bolstered by access to a few unique and powerful items like the Cat Hood and BehemothSuit. Relm's Sketch command performs one attack from the Sketched monster; Sketch can be changed to the Control command if Relm equips the Fake Mustache relic. Unsurprisingly, Control allows Relm to temporarily take control of an enemy.

Special Skill: Sketch

Relm's ability is Sketch. What it does is this: It takes the target's Strength or Magic Power, and uses one of the two attacks every monster has in their Sketch listing with those stats. Not only does that mean that what Sketch brings up is unpredictable and untargetable, monster stats also plain suck (Locke has a Magic stat of 28 when its not boosted by anything, your average monster has 10). On top of that, a lot of, say, Fire-elemental monsters will obviously produce Fire-elemental Sketch attacks, which they absorb, and sometimes the Sketch attack is something like Self-Destruct that will just kill Relm. If Relm equips the Fake Mustache, she will get Control over the monsters she would have otherwise drawn, giving more... control over what attacks are used.
