Personally, I like the Summoners for the damage ratio they do.

Wizard, because they have the highest natural MA for generic characters. Give them Draw Out skills, MP Switch, and Move - MP Up and they will be unkillable and do hundreds of damage regardless of Faith calculations. Magic in FFT is really, really weakened by Faith. Draw Out gets around that.

I used Wizards the most frequently but I voted Summoner as well because they got me through a couple of battles that I was really struggling with. Without their damage I think I would've had to level up a lot before getting past those fights.
In terms of actual magic I didn't like using Time Mages but their magic is brilliant. I used Time Mages with every character to get Teleport for general use. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. |

I voted Wizard. because they have the highest MA and so do well will any magic based secondary ability like Draw Out or Math Skill.
In terms of the actual skill set itself, I like Summoners the best. Nice combination of area damage and area healing, won't hurt allies/heal enemies, and fairly good range. -------------------- FF games completed: I (psp), II (psp), III (DS), IV (psp), V (GBA), VI (GBA), VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIII. Spin-offs: FFIV: Interlude & The After Years, Crisis Core: FFVII, X-2, XIII-2, Dissidia, Dissidia 012, and Tactics (original & WotL). Enjoyed them all. |

I voted "Summoner" because I love the skillset. As has been pointed out, Wizard with Draw Out is brutal, but there's something elegant about the Summoner, with her discriminating AoE spells, healing, and pizzazz.
Honorable mention for the Oracle though. I don't usually use status effect magic, but for Oracles I make an exception (it helps that they're actually decent physical fighters, so I've got the option to gimp an enemy and then take it down myself). -------------------- Be born then, gasp wind, screech at the surgeon’s slap, seek manhood, taste a little godhood, feel pain, give birth, struggle a little while, succumb: (Dying, leave quietly by the rear exit, please.) I love the Time mages. They are just so useful. My favorite Combination is priest with time magic, they can do pretty much anything.

UGH I HATE TIME MAGES!! Those little freaks are always annoying me as an enemy. As a class i use though:Its very useful, and gives me the upper hand. I was once so fast, that the enemies in the library before wiegraf couldn't even get me. I like black mages and dragoons personally. Goons get amazing range, and can also jump vertically. White mages don't seem that effective to me. I don't know if i'm doing something wrong or not,but i seem to do far better and also with more reliable accuracy, with an actual healing spell. While Wizards are pretty well the most powerful magic blasters, I went with Time Mages. I find their spells incredibly useful for making everyone else a mass murder machine, running the field on speed. Plus, their silly hats... so awesome.

First, before i continue I'd like to say when I voted i thought this was for Final Fantasy as a whole and not just FFT so sorry I voted before i realized what the vote was about.
If i could revote just for FFT, out of the options, I would pick the wizard. The Level 4 spells have satisfying animations and do amazing damage plus even their weaker spells are still useful too. I thought the only downside was how much jp you need to fully unlock the wizard and that you'd tend to run out of mp trying to farm jp's for the wizard. to be honest though. If I could add an option I would have voted for the Geomancer (in a way it's a mage). I always loved the aspect about them on how they use the natural environment around them in the magic they use (Which would probably explain why i thought Avatar the last airbender was so awesome to me) and how their is no mp costs in their abilities with the only downside being the spell being limited to whatever it is the enemy is standing on. The only other downside to me was how their most powerful spell being limited to the enemy somehow standing on Lava which is also sadly only even possible on one battlefield. It's close between Priests and Summoners for me but I settled on Priest. Cure and Raise series see a lot of use in my game. Holy is unblockable which is significant in the late game, and the above average Speed multiplier matters around Thief Hat wearing enemies. Also Magic Defend Up makes the difference between eating Clops death at Velius and keeping my team alive long enough to Speed Break and Slow him into slug territory.
Summon magic I would still rate as the more useful skillset. Mutli-target damage that is unevadable is my friend when the opposing side is all packing mantles and shields. Locking big summons on allies (try it with Transparent ones) and bringing them to the enemies is fun for variety. |

It's probably no surprise I'm choosing Oracle -- their scholarly look is odd, using sticks and dictionaries is borderlien silly, and if you make 'em mad, BOOM! You're a petrified chicken. Yin-Yang Magic is one of my favorite secondaries to just throw on someone, too.

I understand how summoners dominate in this poll, seeing how summons are so much easier to use than black magic in FFT.
Despite that, I chose priest. I usually go ninja mania in this game, so I'm not too worried about using magic to attack. If I equip any magic ability on my team, it would be from a priest, but I usually just go with the chemists' abilities anyway. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

Gah, this is a tough one. I like 'em all for various things and usually end up making mages with a magic secondary. Wizards are absolutely amazing when you get them (elemental rods sweeten the deal). Priests are all around useful, being able to revive better than Chemists and nuke things with Holy. Time Mages get Haste and Gravity (which are absolutely broken in their own rights), Oracles get good physical damage output thanks to Poles and Petrify. Summoners are... Summoners.
Going to have to give this one to Oracles. Poles deal MA*WP damage, so it's easy to increase their damage, and it's even more fun to combine it with Doublehand for added damage. In addition to this, they get Petrify (with the added bonus of permanently dealing with Undead!) and Foxbird/Paralyze. They're just all-around good units and can handle various situations. |

Its sad that no one thought of adding the Calculator into this. They are my favorites. I know they are slow, but their spells are instantaneous, and if you are crafty enough, can hit all the enemies at once. Plus, if you switch to a fast magic user like Priest (who I voted for) you can have calculating as a second skill and use magic on the enemies before they even move... besides enemy ninjas. Those guys are freaks of nature.
-------------------- That was my sin. And this... this... is my punishment. |

Ahh man. Definitely the Time Mage. I love the the idea of being able to shift time as a weapon. These characters are so useful in attack strategy.

I pick Summoner, although later in game I just place Math Skill as a Second Ability and let THAT do its work.
Last time I also spent sometime with my Magic Wielder as a Time Mage (even more than to learn the useful Calc Spells) and Mediator so I could get Teleport, Equip Gun and then equip him with a Blast Gun and... well, that was pretty much fun, actually... Although Oracles do gain some points for their skill of stealing HP and MP. I liked to snatch from my own Monks alright! -------------------- "Each hopes to learn who may be counted as friend, and who as foe. But such things are not so easily read. I don't have a favorite magic using class because frankly, I don't use them. I only pursue them for the sake of obtaining the more advanced classes.
