Alright, I just finished the first two recently, but even with that I'm now extremely excited for Mass Effect 3.

Check out the new launch trailer!

So, are you a fan of the series? Are you excited for the game? What do you want to see in the game?

I just played the demo (it's a free download, btw), and all I'm almost positive that the game will live up to my expectations. All my favorite characters are back, and the gameplay was really good. I think it's also important to say that, in just two missions, ME3's demo had better writing/storytelling than most games have in their entirety.

If you haven't played it, you can watch the demo here.

I still haven't started the second, despite having owned it on Steam for months. I did play the demo for the multiplayer aspect, though, and enjoyed it a great deal more than I thought I would.

As mentioned before, I already have ME3 pre-ordered. Been so since July. Cannot wait.

I've decided not to bother with the demo; I fear it'll just make the wait that much more painful. Instead, like you perhaps, I've been happily replaying the first two installments lately in anticipation for the third (y'know, for one more save file to import). Good enough.

I wonder whether the multi-player was really necessary, but I've heard good things about it, so I'm at least curious enough to try it.

Looking forward to this one a lot. Have a level 28 Paragon Vanguard ManShep ready to go. He looks like a space marine version of Gomez Addams.

The multiplayer is really awesome. It's good times, plays well, and is engaging.

I'm looking forward to getting some gaming going with my friends who've been jamming with me on the demo.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the game finishes, indeed. Should be rad.

I haven't tried the multiplayer portion of the demo yet, is it basically a co-op version of the story or something separate?

It's a separate cooperative shooty business. Apparently, recent play of it is also necessary to get the best ending without doing every single side-mission. I hope that was just a misinformed rumour, but...

I love Mass Effect, particularly the first one, but I hear pretty much an equal measure of things I like and things I find very worrying about 3 (a lack of dialogue choices being one of the most significant). I'm not sure whether I'm looking forward to the release or whether I'm just nervous about it. I got burned pretty badly by Dragon Age 2, to the extent that if Mass Effect weren't an existing story I wanted to see the end of, it would probably take a lot to convince me to buy it at all.

So I really, really hope this is going to pan out OK and not be Gears of War with a colour palette. It's got the potential to restore or finally destroy my faith in Bioware. We'll see.

It doesn't have the single player characters in it, but I've heard that doing the multiplayer can help you get a better ending.

You have to do the multiplayer to get a better ending? Hmm...not too sure if I like that. I'd probably be able to do it anyway, so probably not too big of a deal for me.

I did have this preordered but GAME decided to cancel my order and not bother to tell me. No worries - playing hell about it with them through email.

You don't have to, but it helps. At least that's what I've read.

Yeah, and I heard about that whole GAME deal. What I'd imagine that really sucks is that you might lose the pre-order extras.

I haven't been able to get it yet. Can't wait, but I'm not sure if I'm getting the deluxe addition.

You don't have to do the multiplayer, but doing certain optional single-player missions can give you multiplayer bonuses, and completing multiplayer missions gives you war assets that can help you out in the single-player. Doing some of the peripheral Mass Effect games like ME: Infiltrator on iOS also gives you ME3 bonuses. It's a really comprehensive project that is designed to suck you in and drain your (real-life) funds.

I think I have all the recruited characters now, and they're... pretty good! I 100% approve of how they're customizing powers and weapons and I like the grenade powers a lot, but I still miss parts of ME2's cast. Using planetary probes, well, it's still weak, but not as bad as scanning planets for resources.

Bottom line, Garrus and Liara are cooler than ever, the three new party members are unexpectedly great, and I love how Mass Effect 3 handles weapons and powers. My Paragon Vanguard ManShep is taking a bit of a hit to his cooldowns in order to use an assault rifle along with his shotgun, but I'm okay with it.

Man, this sucks. I was getting ready to buy it, and then my laptop broke and i'll have to replace it. So, I've got to wait on the game. Maybe it's for the best though, because

I didn't do Wrex's armor mission so I killed him, and I didn't really want to do that because I liked him.

I guess I can replay 1 and 2 for a couple weeks until I get some more money saved up.

You don't need to do his armor mission to have him survive. If you have a really high Paragon or Renegade score you can talk him into settling down. I think it's worth it, because Wrex is awesome and has a prominent role in one mission of ME3.

Just got the game, it's completely awesome. But...

War Assets are pretty hard to come by. I was just going through the game normally, and...

You need 5000 or you don't get the good ending.

So, to answer your question, yeah, I may have to do that.

But quick review so far: the game is absolutely awesome. The gameplay system is more fun, and the storytelling is actually an improvement also (and I didn't think that was possible). In short, I think paying for a gold pass and grinding in multiplayer is worth getting the full experience.

Favorite part so far involves Tuchanka:

Mordin sacrifices himself to cure the genophage. A real tear-jerker.

Mordin only dies if you decide to cure the genophage and tell the truth to Eve about the Salarians' offer. Depending on your choices, Mordin and/or Eve and/or Wrex and/or Wreav will die during that mission. I went with the Salarians' support, so I have Mordin in charge of the Crucible's construction. Wrex saw through my deception when I told him the genophage was cured, so I had to shoot him.

Mass Effect 3 really is different for every player.

Oh, so are you playing the renegade option then? I've done more of the paragon options. The story behind my decision:

I've wanted to cure the genophage since I killed Wrex. I wasn't paying much attention to my decisions when I was playing ME1, so that was a personal point for me.

Anyways, before the quarian missions, what was your favorite scene, mission?

Wait, what? I keep finding them literally everywhere I turn! Citadel is literally chalk full of quests to get you more War Assets, not to mention the ones you can stumble across in regular quests or just plain goofing around. I went through my first play through without making any real effort to actually gather them (as my first Shepard is always the renegade who leaves the universe a bit worse than it was when we start) and still had enough to unlock the achievement for bringing most of them to the end game.

All that said, I love Mass Effect 3 from beginning, middle to right-before-end, and I love a lot (and believe in) the conspiracy theories surrounding the ending itself.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
That everything after Shepard is hit by Harbinger's beam is not actually reality, but Shepard finally succumbing to indoctrination after being exposed to the reapers for so long. Especially after having played through the Arrival DLC in ME2, where you essentially are out cold in a camp full of indoctrinated scientists for over a day. I want to believe so badly that it's the case because otherwise, the ending would be such a huge letdown to what was a brilliant game and a stellar trilogy.

Y'know, even considering that, I still can't accept it as a proper ending. There's no closure or a sense that any of the player's choices made throughout the series mattered (not to mention the gaping plotholes). Of course, DLC will inevitably follow, and I can't imagine they won't address all of this (okay, being optimistic); BioWare is telling us to hold on to our save files (I'll be peeved, though, if I have to pay for a "proper ending DLC"). As it stands, though, to have an otherwise excellent game build me up the way ME3 did and then hand me an ending like that, well, it's just a deflating experience : / .
