Party: Magus, Lucca, Marle
Omg, a party that doesn't use Crono! When no healing is needed, DarkEternal. When healing is needed, Marle heals while Lucca uses Flare and Magus uses Darkmatter. Party: Three characters from CT (sometimes 2 or even 1)
Attack Lavos, starting with whatever his extra body parts happen to be at the time. Heal when HP get low. Revive a party member if they die. Use an MP restoring item if MP gets low. Repeat. Edit I've decided to add a strategy guide for the whole game starting from the very beggining as well. Achieve goals which advance storyline. Defeat enemies and recieve XP and Money. Buy better equipment using Money. Save often. Phhhheeeew... I think that covers it. I hope my guide is useful to all you newcomers to Chrono Trigger. Good Luck! I always take Crono, Magus, and Ayla.
I have Crono spam Frenzy on Lavos, and Magus just repeatedly casts shadow magic. Ayla just does her fighting moves to speed up the process. |

Chrono, Frog, Magus
Chrono= Confuse Frog= Frog Squash/Healing(mostly with full tonics since I want to keep his hp low. Magus= Dark Eternal Spam til death. Lavos' final form goes down in about 5 minutes this way. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. My characters were Robo, Magus and Crono.
Crono would cast luminaire, with Magus casting the best stuff he currently has enough MP to cast, while Robo takes care of curing with group spells (ok, sorta spells) and casting shock when able. The biggest thing really is that everyone's MP stays high enough to use their best moves (and doesn't run out: especially Robo, who is in charge of healing). Elixer-giving is more of a general duty. I don't remember this fight being particularly difficult... I know that by the time I'd completed most of the side quests (or all? perhaps?), I was strong enough and well equiped enough that I didn't need to worry all that much about Lavos. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! I can beat the game with who-ever actually. But my favorite team is Chrono, Marle, and Magus. You can all guess what they do.

My team is usually crono, marle, and lucca
I have marle with the accesorry that lets her cast any spell for only 1 or 2 mp so she spam's magic with haste on everyone or cure 2 to heal anything I have crono with the rainbow and the frenzy band (or whatever the accesory is that has an 80% counter attack rate) the counter attack rate paired with the 70% critical hit rate of the rainbow is amazing so I have him spam attack with him only using luminar during the last part of the fight when the bit you have to kill has it's def down and the other parts are brought back to life. I have lucca with the wondershot and the prism glasses but she's manly on the team just to let marle duel tech with her to cast antipod 3 which rips the ^*&*( crap out of lavos every time I use it. Antipod 3 is basically how I win the hole fight in all 3 fights. -------------------- He's Back. He is The_TrueBOSS. Party: Crono, Lucca, Robo
Strategy: Have Crono take out the leftmost pod, then have Crono and Lucca spam Luminare and Flare on the core, while Robo casts Heal Beam on the entire party. Use Lapis or Megalixer when need be. WIN. Only took me a year to figure this strategy out! -------------------- "When we think there's no hope left, we keep looking until we find some!" - Claire Farron |

My party usually is Magus, Frog and Robo, and considering they are all hard-hitters I just... beat him. Not really much to think about with that team. Frog and Robo can both heal if necessary.

My strategy for fighting off Lavos Core in order to get the hardest ending in the game:
Crono: - Equip him with Rainbow (or the most powerful weapon you have for him to use), Safe Helm, and Gold Stud. - Spam the living hell out of the "Confuse" Tech on the Left Bit until it dies, then attack the Right Bit once it shuts off its defense. When the Left Bit is revived kill it once more, then go for the Center Bit (so that once both die only the Right Bit will be left alive so Crono and Marle can both rape it until it gives in). Marle: - Equip her with PrismDress and anything else with high physical/magic defense. - Basically Crono's healing bitch. "Aura" & "Cure" Techs, Mid/Full Tonics, Mid/Full Ethers, Elixirs, MegaElixirs, Revives, and Heals come in handy with this gal. - If she ever decides to attack, it's using the "Ice" Tech on the current Bit I am fighting off. |

First half:
Magus casts Magic Shell on everyone, then uses Dark Matter Crono & Frog use Spire Second half: Magus casts Magic Shell on everyone Crono & Frog use X Strike on left bit until it dies Magus attacks left bit until it dies Crono & Frog use Spire on center bit until core turns off defense Magus uses Dark Matter as soon as left bit dies Crono & Frog use Spire on core When core revives bits, restart strategy |

I've fought Lavos multiple times with different parties. I no longer remember specific strategies, but most boiled down to spamming the most damaging attacks available, while throwing in the occasional heal spell as needed. The most specific strategy that comes to my mind is the ng+ battle with just Crono and Marle, which was the same as above, but with the addition of maintaining Marle's haste.

Party:
Crono (Phisical attacks/Thunder) Magus (Spamming Magic) Robo (Healing and little attacking) I would always just use the same attacks over and over, until eventually the stupid thing died. I love the music too much though, so i take my time. I personally think Robo is a beeter healer then Marle, because her speells are mostly one target, when Robo's are multi-target. I also like double techs with Crono/Robo. -------------------- Excuse me? Would you mind not talking while I'm interupting? |

I'm with DP on this one. I usually win by preparing enough beforehand and then just winging it.

I usually don't grind enough to do frog squash and dino tail. I take Crono, Marle and Lucca.
Marle hastes people, I use barriers and Lucca's Protect spell on everyone, then I use Confuse on the left bit until it's dead, following up with Fire Sword 2 or Ice Sword 2 on the right bit after it drops its defense. When it revives the left bit, I prepare another Confuse, repeat until Lavos is a pile of dust. -------------------- X is blue. |

Marle, Chrono, Lucca.
They can finish what they started. The entire ordeal with Lavos by leaping into the timepod. I spam Antipod 3 and win with ease. I suppose I don't need Chrono. Magus would allow the triple tech that almost does as much damage as Antipod 3. Though it's more natural for Chrono (The main hero) to fight at the end. -------------------- https://www.youtube.com/user/Greatermaxim Terra - LV 99 - HP 9999 - MP 999 Equipment - - - Abilities Illumina - - - - - Fight Genji Shield - - Morph Oath Veil - - - - Magic Minerva - - - - - Item Ribbon Economizer |
