Well, the title says it all. What is your favourite E. Skill and why? Or maybe the least favourite and why?
My personal favourite is Angel Whisper. This is because it's a sort of Lifa (I know it's really Life2 but that just doesn't sound right) but you don't have to be dead for it and it cures status ailments aswell. I have to say my favourite E. Skill is situational.
At Corel Prison, my fav E. Skill is Laser, because you can beast your Limits by manipulating the Death Claws; Later(Rocket Town etc.) it is Trine, mainly due to it's awesome power at this stage of the game; By the end of the game I think the best is Dragon Force: sprint shoes+dragon forcex3=decimation of all enemies. However, if you are doing a low level game then Chocobuckle is a must...9999 damage at level 15, yes please. |

I wouldn't bother stopping at 1111 or 2222 in low level games; likelyhood is that you won't reach 9999hp without 4/5 master HP plus materia =] 2222 is excellent for normal/OP games though. |

Big Guard is the tits but I think Shadow Flare looks the best from memory. I could never be bothered with Chocobunkle, I mean who can stand running away from that many battles for it to become useful? I'd go insane before it became strong enough to take on that big snake.

I always simply enjoyed Matra Magic. It was a fairly inexpensive all-target magic spell, and it was pretty powerful. I always used it to go back to the Mithril Mines and wipe out groups in one round to boost my limit breaks.

I've always been a fan of Shadow Flare. I know that it's not the most useful ability one can access through Enemy Skill, but I just think it's cool.

Especially handy if all you do is 9999 to the Midgar Zolom and you need to do about 1k of damage so you can get Beta. Oh, btw, do people pronounce Beta Beeta or Betta? Restorative
White Wind works wonders before you get your first Ribbon, the ability to heal all status ailments and restoring your HP is very useful. Defense Nothings beats the Big Guard Offense It has to be Beta for me. -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

I like "Matra Magic."
I just always thought it looked really funny with the missiles coming out of the casters back. What I use the most is probably "Big Guard" |

1. White Wind because it's a very good restorative spell.
2. Big Guard because it was much easier to acquire than levelling up Time materia and it casts haste at the same time. 3. Magic Hammer - handy before W-Item came along for one short of gil. And for an attacking skill..... 4. Trine or Aqualung - I can't decide which. Oh for simply looking cool Matra Magic. Always thought it was cool since Rufus first used it on me, but it's too weak further on in the game -------------------- "Please don't give me all my luck now. Make it all stretch. Curious, no mention of ????... ?
For, what, 2mp, it could deal some serious damage, even if it was a pain to get. I also seem to recall Pandora's box. Sure, you only got it on disc 3, but it was even more powerful than magic breath. Really, most enemy skills were good in the right situation. Except Goblin Punch and Roulette. They always sucked. -------------------- Yours, with sarcasm, Kjel |

The obvious ones are Big Guard, Beta, and White Wind. Those three are useful in almost any situation for a large portion of the game. Trine and Aqualung give Beta a run for its money at times (like if something is immune to fire), but Beta is usually more powerful. If you acquire it when you first have the opportunity, it's ludicrously overpowered and can annihilate almost anything for a very long time afterwards.
Later on, Angel Whisper is an incredible addition to the Enemy Skill materia, and both Shadow Flare and Pandora's Box are pretty badass. Magic Hammer has its uses. |

It seems most people like White Wind, Big Guard, Trine, Beta, and a few others. I'm with you guys there, and I'm also with everyone who likes Shadow Flare because it looks cool. I also love anything non-elemental.
I'd like to add that Pandora's Box ignores defense. This means you can use it on anything, including Ruby!! Of course, you want KotR, but it says a lot about how useful Pandora's box is. I also think that Square meant for Enemy Skill to be one of the most rewarding parts of the gameplay. I mean, consider the amount of damage done by spells like Trine and Beta per MP spent, then compare them to the Bolt and Fire spells. Enemy Skill is the most efficient, you get spells that affect all targets without any All materia, plus a ton of variety. Just a little patience and a little Manipulation gain the world for you. Then again, I was a little sore at them for not including that Aero spell. I got over it about a decade ago though. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

Yeah I don't know why but it was an enemy skill I just never used that much in the end seen as there was so much variety. I mean upon completion of the game my characters attacks were almost always 9999 and with double cut mastered and equipped, it wasn't really needed. Never mind the usual ultima and quadra magic combo and the other materia! -------------------- "Please don't give me all my luck now. Make it all stretch. I don't mind waiting. My favorites seem to be the utility spells.
White Wind for defeating Ghost Ships in one move (cast it on them) Frog Song dishes out frog and sleep 100% unless the target is immune and it costs less MP than casting the two statuses through the Magic command. This lets me progress reliably through the special battle since all except Ho-chu and Proud Clod are vulnerable to sleep. L4 Suicide is a fantastic tool for weakening Unknown 3 and Serpent for morphing into sources. Also handy for dispatching Dragons if encountered as the last opponent in Battle Square pre-Highwind. Combine with Frog Song's sleep for faster results. Death Force is the least resource intensive tool for handling Master Tonberry safely as Everybody's Grudge is a controllable counter This skill also neuters Gargoyle's death counter and random Death Dealer nonsense.. |

One of my favourites was Magic Breath. It was a useful skill for dispatching large numbers of weak foes quickly, and the graphical effects were pretty cool too. Big Guard and White Wind (later Angel Whisper) were useful too in boss battles, although Big Guard's combination of Haste with Barrier and M.Barrier caused the barriers to run down a little quickly.

Gotta go with Trine because you get it early enough to be useful and it's pretty amazing throughout the game.

Trine was definitely my most used enemy skill, aside from maybe Matra Magic. Both were an all-hit offensive spell that could do decent damage at the time. Trine was really nice because you had all (or at least 3) of the 4 enemy skill materias, and could learn it for all of them at the Materia Keeper boss battle.

I prefer Aqualung over Trine or Beta. It costs more MP, but I find it to be more powerful against a wider range of enemies. I could be wrong and/or imagining it, though.

i always get beta the moment your able to fight midgar zolum. all i do is i put all the characters in the back row with sadness and make sure they have full limit break bars before the fight also give the character with the enemy skill elemental def materia in the armor slot with fire materia. keep their health up while poisoning the zolum asap. when he beta's use the character's limit immediately and hope it kills it before your character dies.
