Here we go, the FFV topic that everyone disagrees on.

It's most likely a complaint as to the translation quality of the PS1 release.  Faris's pirate-speak is sensible in the GBA version, but the PS1 port doesn't exactly have the best translations. (Reina and Y-Burn, anyone?)

She only sounds like a pirate on the PlayStation port. On the Game Boy Advance she sounds more British. Personally, I would rather go with her "bland" dialogue in the RPGe Super Famicom fan translation hack.

And Reina is a pretty damn good name I would say. I'm glad Galuf's granddaughter remained named as "Krile" on the GBA remake and didn't get butched into being named as that godawful "Cara."

I actually think Cara is a better name. Being more realistic, it's an easier name for me to relate to. Krile (is that "kreel" or "cry lee"?) is just weird.

Well, okay, there's one thing we all agree on, and that's that "Butz" sounds silly.

I like the GBA translation the best for the most part, except that I prefer "Cara" to "Krile".

I like the Anthology translation that I play, and when I played the Japanese version once, I didn't feel like I was getting anything out of it that I didn't already in the Anthology version.

As for the Krile versus Cara debate, the only thing that I wish is that

Krile could die instead of Galuf.

I know! I'm terrible. ohmy.gif

Might because I encountered her as Krile first, but I preferred that if only for the sake of "I saw it first". Cara is definitely a more 'normal' name, while Krile seems otherworldly.

Dude, Butz all the way for me.

Nostalgia and fantranslations aside, it's a very memorable name. If correctly said aloud, it's "Boot-s". If said like I like to say, it's BUTTS.

I love Seymour "Butz" Klauser.

Wouldn't that make it more like "Buutz" or "Butes"?

I liked the names Reina and Salsa. Reina was pretty, anime-ish, and Spanish for "Queen"! And Salsa of course, had a nice Latin sound as well ; )

Also, Kriley was a cute name.

Idk if it's different in the other versions of the game, but I really remember not liking most of Reina's dialogue. Also, at the beginning it sounded like they tried to make Butz "cool" sounding, which was weird
