Seriously. Unless you can bring something that bests that to the table, you might want to reconsider even trying. I can't even fathom where you'd even start a costume like that. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

You start with several thousand dollars worth of 3D printing equipment! Quite simple, really.

Wow, that's amazing!
It's really impressive how much work people put into these costumes. -------------------- FF games completed: I (psp), II (psp), III (DS), IV (psp), V (GBA), VI (GBA), VII, VIII, IX, X, XI: Nations-Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, XII, XIII, XIV, XV. Spin-offs: FFIV: Interlude & The After Years, Crisis Core: FFVII, X-2, XIII-2, Lightning Returns, Type-0 HD, Dissidia, Dissidia 012, and Tactics (original & WotL). Enjoyed them all. |

I'm sometimes tempted to cosplay, just to see what it's like. (That's what they all say, right?) But then I see something like this and realize that I wouldn't commit nearly enough energy to make something impressive, and it's probably best not to try. Well, maybe I could still doing something like Scott Pilgrim, but Sweet Fancy Moses! that guy wins all the awards.

He's the hero Baron deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector.

Holy crap, that's AWESOME. It probably didn't hurt that he spent crazy amounts of money (with the 3D printer) doing it but yeah... easily one of the best cosplayers I've seen. Almost as good as ManFaye.

It's like looking at something real that isn't supposed to be real. He's like a life size model kit.

This is... brilliant. I really don't know what else to say. I'd love to see a "making of" video for the costume. I think I'd enjoy just watching him put it all together.

Good lord, That's amazing; and the Rosa is incredible! And now I look at my Setzer in progress and feel inadequate. Sad Setzer is sad. Thank you for sharing this, it gives costumers something to aim for.
As a side, the links in the armor of this cosplay are clear enough to help anyone who is interested in armor making outside of cosplay. This will help me with my leather working for my renaissance work. This post has been edited by St Khael on 26th June 2012 21:38 -------------------- |

Although that's an awesome piece of armor, I was going to ask how that's supposed to in any way resemble Cecil. I mean after-all, in every version of the game released so far, his armor has always been a shade of dark blue at the very least, amongst other discrepancies. Then I remembered Amano's original concept art often doesn't look anything like what you see in the final product.
Top notch job, although I still feel it's noteworthy that I wouldn't have recognized it if I had I not been told who it was supposed to be to begin with. Also, I'm still waiting on somebody to base their works on in-game visuals. This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 28th June 2012 01:05 -------------------- |

I admit that it's pretty incredible, but (hi everyone, by the way) I've never really appreciated cosplay. To me, if you spend enough time on a game, so much that you walk around in public as the characters (I'm looking at you, Kingdom Hearts), you need to wake up and smell the ashes. I really shouldn't be whining, but I think cosplay is just... weird, in my opinion.
If you take my opinion as fact, then this is your problem. I'm off to smack some headcrabs. |

I never thought much of cosplay myself, to be honest. But as I got further into working with the renaissance crowd and making my own everyday clothing I found that studying cosplay is a great way to get ideas for shapes. For instance, I freely admit that I am working on a sprite based cosplay for Setzer Gabbiani of Final Fantasy VI at the moment. It gave me an excuse to design and make my first long coat, pirate fashion, and to try my hand at working on outer wear. However, I do find it senseless to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars to dress up like characters that, in my honest opinion, are very unattractive in reality. I personally will not make something that does not have re-wear value. Most of the time I am able to find everyday, premade clothing to complete the costume and save me a great deal of money. Mind you, my only defense for my cosplay is that it's an excuse to make something I never would have made on my own. Beyond that point, yeah I'm with you, it is pretty pointless. And, I freely admit, so is my desire to take part, but it can be fun if you do it without going overboard. But please...keep the anime cosplayers away from me...they're insane and not in a good way. o.o;
