I need advice/help on the last stretch of the game. I only got the min. required characters in World of Ruin (Celes, Sabin, Edgar, Setzer) and like to just complete the game fast.
In Kefka's Tower we have to split up into 3 parties - I chose Sabin & Setzer, Edgar, Celes. However I keep on running into problems with Great Malboro. He keeps on using bad breath and making edgar sleep forever. This is an endless loop. Is there anyway to prevent sleep? Same goes for Primeval Dragon Lifesaver attack. Just drains us so much. How to protect against? |

Charm Bangles to reduce random encounter rates certainly help in general, and Ribbons can protect against Sleep (as well as most everything else caused by Bad Breath): http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff6/relics.php
I don't think Lifeshaver can be blocked or evaded. For reference, you have one additional party member. Sabin isn't actually required. http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/?showtopic=11781 -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

For Lifeshaver, equip some Gaia Gear if you have any. Lifeshaver is an earth based attack and Gaia Gear will absorb it.

As stated before, Life shaver is an earth-based attack. A Float/levitate ability or spell will cause the spell to miss. Gaia Gear, I believe, will absorb it.
The Great Malboro's breath weapon is negated by a Ribbon. They are also vulnerable, if there are multiples, to the X-zone/Banish spell. -------------------- "So, are you a fan of the Fett?" "Nah, I'm more of a Star Wars guy." |

Great Malboro doesn't have much in the way of status immunities that I can recall. Confuse, sleep, silence, stop can all at least slow it down if you're lacking instant death.
For Primeval Dragon, imp or silence shut off its Lifeshaver. Imp cripples it more. Frees up the armor slot for something better. |

Lifeshaver strikes Floating party members, so Float won't work. Absorbing Earth or being Undead (Relic Ring) inverts the damage done nicely.
I think you'll have a bad time in Kefka' s Tower with just those characters. It's possible to beat the game that way, but it requires a lot of preparation and knowledge. -------------------- |
